Perpetual Energy Devices
    #18637541 -

I was blowed looking at the moon..

You know how the moon orbits Earth and creates waves on the ocean?

Yeah!

Is it possible to utilize the motion of the moon in relation to Earth and create a perpetual motion device?

Maybe not a very practical one..but possible eh?

hey that's a cool idea! but what if we thought of a way to harness some of the moon's energy, and it slowed down and crashed into Earth?

We already harness the power in the constant motion of the ocean. Thats harnessing some of the moons power

I have a feeling you don't understand what a "perpetual motion device" is.

Quote:
Perpetual motion describes motion that continues indefinitely without any external source of energy

Well perhaps not perpetual..but extremely long-lasting..

The tides are an external source of energy.  This is not perpetual motion.

I think this will be as perpetual as it gets, even this one'll explode one way or another.

Thorium reactor
isn't that bad either but yeah, humanity sucks

I wonder where perpetual comes from, what's perpetual? Nothing lasts.

Humanity sucks because we're incapable of breaking the laws of physics?

Humanity sucks because we use what is "good" (whatever you define it) to destroy.

Well that is a topic that is wildly off-course for this thread.

I don't see how, we could implent a PED but I stated a reason why we haven't yet. That's elaborating on the subject at hand; whether it's an opionion or not.

Why don't you stay on-topic of Perpetual Energy Devices instead of stating i'm off-tangent

Energy, not motion.

Perpetual energy is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.  Please read the wikipedia link I posted for about 10 seconds.

i'm tired of wikilinks, if you have more extensive readings, do link me, always an interesting subject

It's literally the second line on wikipedia after the one I quoted:

This is impossible in practice because of friction and other sources of energy loss

Yes, thanks, I know that.

I know by definition this is not perpetual energy but I think I'm getting close..
I am taking a DC generator motor and an AC fan motor and I'm goin to hook them together and see if I can make one run off of the other with a kick start of AC power to get it running. so hypothetically ill be able to get this motor system running and charging a deep cycle battery and if i shut it off than ill be able to start it back up woth the battery. so ill be able to have free energy. kind of sort of perpetual motion:shrug:

Lets create a super fine aerogel lining spread out over a large square area (that also conducts solar energy) which will create movement on sheet because of the moons influence..harness the energies created by the movement and sun and...

free energy!

Are you serious?  You think you can achieve free energy?  You're talking about a step FARTHER than perpetual energy.  Perpetual energy is theoretically possible (in a vacuum).  FREE energy is absolutely physically impossible, even in theory.  You're talking about not only continual motion without an external source of energy, but actually TAKING energy away from something that is in perpetual motion, and having it STAY in motion.

Did you guys fail grade 9 physics?

it's been done already..
