Any VW owners here who can give some insight?
    #18379595 -

I'm looking into some cars, stumbled upon a 2003 VW Passat; I really love it. Anyone have any first hand information on reliability and repair costs? Thanks

how many miles does said car have on it now?

how has the car been maintained?

germans use some trickery in their vehicles engineering alot of people think they can work on them so call a reputable vw shop in your area to see how much their hourly labor rate is and judge from that.

remember dealers will be more expensive.

i love vw's although i have never owned one passed 73.  but i have worked on my fair share though.

I had a 97' jetta that was a complete pain in the ass, I ended up putting 1500 in repairs on it before it hit 6 months.  It was just a bad purchase but that car felt like I was driving around a plastic kids car.  Thing damn near killed me and 5 friends on the freeway on the way to a party.  We had 2 30's 2 bottles and almost an oz of grass. Cops were there in like 5 mins, not to make sure we were okay from crashing at 75mph, but to harass us because they thought we were drunk.

FUCK COPS :cop:

FUCK VW's

PS

My friend also just got a 2013 jetta and wrecked it as well, just a coincidence but I still think their shitty cars.

90's Jettas have transmission and electrical problems all the time, but you crashing it is your own fault, not the cars.

Newer volkswagons hold up well in consumer reports tests, and the Rabbit is the most reliable compact car on the market.

Naw it wasn't my fault I wasn't driving

It also wasn't the person who was drivings fault.  I just got it back from the mechanic for a suspension problem.  We were cruising on the freeway and then one second the front wheels went like sideways and we were flying all over the place.

It did have tons of electrical problems though, but besides all the bullshit it was just an ugly uncomfortable shitty car.  The only good thing about it was it got like 30+ mpg around town.
