A jetta story
    #3115860 - 09/09/04 10:47 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

My friend has this really beat up jetta he bought for 50 bucks, and has refused for some time to buy a battery for it.  Well, the other night we were waiting around till we could drink and he said he'd drive to my friends.  We get there and decide to get wendy's.  Turns off car.  Car won't start.

Heres where the fun starts.

Its stick so it can be pressure started... or whatever the correct term is.  The idea is you get the car rolling and pop it into first making it go vroom.  So we start running down the road as fast as we can behind this beat to hell jetta trying to to reach a decent speed... a fairly fast speed.  Multiple attempts were made and failed because we weren't going fast enough.  Eventually after a while of this shit we get to this really steep hill, and decide to push it down that and let it glide.  It starts up and my friend turns around to get us 2 pushers.  Whats he do when he stops to let us in?  Stalls it.

So, we push it up this hill and do it again.  blah blah blah.  It took a good while, I haven't had a running high like that in a long time.

Then we got fucked up

Yeah man those things are indestructable.... I keep wondering what kinda sight it was to see a beat up jetta with 4-ways on with two stoner looking kids running behind it down this long assed street over and over.

My friend's Jetta had it's back bumper stolen while it was parked in the lot outside his dorm a few years ago. What kinda rat bastard steals a bumper off a parked car?

Try using second gear for this kinda thing. You dont need to be rolling much @ all. Just my 2c, good story though.

I've never had the least bit of trouble push starting a stick shift even by myself.

note it can be done in reverse as well.

2nd gear... I'll be sure to remember that for my car if it ever happens with it.

I dunno debian, we had a fucking hard time doing it, guess we're loosers. Had no idea it could be done in reverse... thats gotta be kinda weird.

Yeah, it's been a few days. Tomorrow i'm going to the Wisconsin Dells with my little sisters and their dad (my ex-step dad i guess..) and yeah. We are going to Noah's Ark (AMERICA'S LARGEST WATERPARK!) (There is some free advertising...hopefully i can get in for free...oh wait, he's paying for me...haha.). We are doing that for the day and then staying overnight and going to some indoor waterpark. He gets all these discounts and free shit from his work and stuff I guess, so that's cool.

I went with them all last year too, and i was playing phish in the car and to my sisters i was like "you wanna hear a guy play a vacuum on his face?" and they say yes and they liked it a lot, my little sisters get a kick out of it..especially my oldest little sister.

i used to have a car which that happened to all that damn time, i didn't even get made when it happened anymore. i got pretty good too and could get it rolling, jump in and pop the clutch and have it started up pretty quick.

then the clutch went out and i had to rev match each gear. i drove around for a couple months with no clutch. it would have been a REAL easy job to just replace the clutch slave cylinder, but since it was an older and kind of unique car, i couldn't find the part anywhere.
