If it is Psilocybe Cubensis you are trying to grow, its gonna' take just a little more work than that. Cubies will do better in compost or manure rather than wood. You will be better off if you innoculate a sterilized substrate in a half-pint jar with your syringe. Once you have produced some mycelium you can use that to colonize and fruit some compost or manure (horse or cow). You should buy some manure and spread it all over your swamp.

you might be better off with a wood loving species if you wanted to innoculate logs. I think there are some "log teks" out there.
Also I think creating wood plugs or cakes indoors then transferring them out for fruiting and flushing might be a workable plan.

If you're a newbie (like me) you might want to try a couple of indoor trials just to get a feel of things, and build up your spore reserve for riskier projects.
