My Gallbladder is an Asshole

I was up with pain from 3 to 8 this morning.  It's fucking ridiculous pain.  This is the third time this has happened this week, so I finally decided to go to the doctor this morning.  I've had problems with it for a few years now, but never this frequent.  I kept putting it off because I don't have insurance.  The visit this morning was $150 and I can only imagine what the rest of this process is going to cost. 

They drew three tubes of blood from me and sent me off with a prescription for phenergan and percocet.  I have an ultrasound appointment next week.  Anybody else go through this?  Have your gallbladder taken out?  If so, what kind of bill am I looking at? 

I'm scared :sadyes:

Ask around at all the hospitals in your area. Some hospitals offer bill forgiveness to patients without insurance & low income. If any of the hospitals in your area offer this, get the procedure done there.

Yeah, I think the main hospital in my area does offer some type of financial aid.  I'm hoping I can get a decent forgiveness.  I mean, if it's between having a bill and having this little fucker causing trouble...I'll choose owing money.  Gallbladder pain is intense.

if you were in the area of chattanooga I'd suggest hitting up erlanger, dont
know anything about the hospitals in nashville and knoxville

you are looking at 10K at least, if it is just laproscopic surgery.  If they have to cut you open, figure 20K to 30K.  You need medicaid if you arent working. 

i put it off for 8 months when i was in college, and it got so bad I was sick to my stomach all the time, if i slightly ate the wrong  thing had an attack.  One was so bad i was balled up on the floor of the ER.

I lost 75 pounds in 8 months.  And I went home the same night because it was laproscopic surgery.  when i got home, i suddenly realized how fucking sick i had been.  don't put it off.

A couple years ago I had pancreatitis that was caused by a major operation. The pain was the worst ive ever felt. It felt like a hot sword piercing through my abdomen. Anyways, after i healed from my operation i was still getting theses stomach pains that werent as intense as the pancreatitis but they were pretty bad. I went to a GI doctor, they did an ultrasound and said that my gallbladder was filled with "sludge" that will eventually turn to gall stones. So ill eventually have to get it taken out. At least they do it laparoscopically now so i wont have any more scars. I have a 12 inch zipper on my stomach. I hate it.

But i know the pain OP. It sucks. Drinking heavily and eating greasy foods always aggravate my gallbladder. I have a fast metabolism but i ate like shit growing up. Tons of fast food. Might be why my gallbladder is fucked.

Hows your diet? What do think attributed to your jacked up gallbladder?

If you used Ketamine excessively it could have been gall bladder spasms, a K binging side effect. In that case the mere act of quitting K for a while would make it completely disappear.

I had a blocked bowel in '95.  Fucking almost killed me.  They did emergency surgery and saved my ass.  I feel for ya', OP.  I know how that shit goes.

once you have gallstones, as far as I know, you keep getting them.  That's why they take out the gall bladder.  Believe me, you haven't felt alive until you passed a gall stone.  :grin:

my gall bladder had pollups and sludge, possible stones 4 years ago and they wanted to remove it, but I wanted a second opinion. I got the second opinion a week later while passing another kidney stone in a different hospital. they said there was nothing wrong, but I go to the er sometimes with stomach issues. they did a colonoscopy and just diagnosed me with lymphocytic colitis, a benign disease. fuck them. because it's considered benign, they took hydrocodone away from me, and now i'm a fucking raging alcoholic who'll rob your ass if I know you have opiates. not really, but who the fuck knows?

:eek: Holy fuuuck.  Goddamn son of a mother fuckin' bitch that sucks. I've been denied medicaid because apparently my fiance brings in enough for our household income to be considered too much. We pay our bills and put food on the table, but that's all our budget allows really.

I have one class a week plus 40 hours in clinicals a week.  I have a 5 year old and an 8 month old, so working really would have spread me pretty thin.  I know people can do it, but I've literally been on the verge of a nervous breakdown as it is.

I don't eat great, but I don't eat bad either I guess.  I don't eat fast food very often.  I basically cook what I can get my son to eat: corn dog nuggets, spaghetti, fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, things like that.  We love veggies, so I'm usually steaming something green to put on the table.  Honestly I think dairy is my biggest culprit.  I love cheese!  Also, during my last pregnancy I craved ice cream like crazy and totally haven't kicked the habit.

You sound like me. My favorite food groups are (in particular order):

Dairy
Meat
Veggies

Mine hasn't been acting up too much lately. Ive been eating better so there's less frequent pains which is good because the pain usually triggers an urge to do opiates which I've been abstaining from.

Anyway, Goodluck with that bile-producing piece of shit.

Oh yeah.  They loaded me up with Demerol.  I was hammered to the fucking floor for five days.  I maxed that bitch out and paid the price.  I had withdrawals like a bitch for a fricking month!  Demerol is a shitty drug!

Ive never done demerol. Is it stronger than morphine?

After my operation I had a morphine drip in the hospital for 2 weeks. I could give myself a dose every 8 minutes or so. Id be nodded out after the 3rd hit of the button. After 2 weeks they took me off the morphine and gave me oxys for the last 3 weeks i was in there. They sent me home, i followed up with a post-op physician and he gave me 40 mg oxys and 15 mg roxis for a couple months. Those bad boys eventually led to a heroin addiction.

In the hospital i was at the lowest point of my life and when i reached over and hit that morphine drip it was instant bliss. A love affair began.

I know for sure i had a predisposition to addiction but that surgery and those oxys were definitely the catalyst for my opiate addiction.

Ok.  So I started this post last Saturday.  Early Wednesday morning about 1:30AM I woke up with horrendous pain.  Another. fucking. attack.  Anyway, I had clinicals at 6 that morning, so I decided to let it ride, hoping it would ease off.  They normally last 5 hours at the most.  6AM rolls around and I'm still in pain and puking.  I went to the emergency room.  My gallbladder was removed at 5 that evening. 
I have been on so many pain killers, I am so out of it.  I've been on percocet, dilaudid, morphine, and lortab.  Shits crazy:flowstone:

Can't wait for the bills to start rolling in.
