What's your view on starving africans?

I personally don't get it. Why don't they just go somewhere else?

Are we forcing them to live in africa and starve?

I feel like I am super ignorant on this topic. Kinda bothering me right now.

Obviously what is needed is a 'starving african fee' imposed by UN mandate, applied to all UN countries, after which the collected 'fee' is filtered through cronies and banks with ties to the UN, after which the remaining money is used to hand out loafs of bread to starving africans. :smirk:

Yeah we should send some celebrities over there to make infomercials to guilt you into sending money.  Yeah it sucks though and they probably cant move cause they dont have the means.  Too all African children with flies on your face start hoofin it.

You don't understand poverty?  They can't just go somewhere else because, well they don't have the resources to do that.  And suppose they were able to make it to some European country.  They would be undocumented, unskilled, and unemployed.  Essentially, they would just be poor somewhere else.

Let's be empathetic here: Its difficult to leave behind everything you've ever known. There's no guarantee they will make it to their destination alive, and if they do that they will gain citizenship - what you're proposing is akin to becoming an illegal alien.

What they need is more structural/infrastructure support (water systems, toilets), sex education, and their own protection against extremist violence. The same things many other countries also need.

You're joking right?  Try walking from the US into Canada without any identification, money, or clothes and tell me how well that goes for you.

I don't know why we couldn't form some organization that funds growing operations of vegetables and fruit then send them over seas via plane or boat.

It isn't economically feasible to send food that far. It makes much more sense to teach them how to support themselves... "Teach a man to fish" mentality.

See that's the thing. I think it's more a matter of nobody wanting them in their country. So in a way we are forcing them to starve in africa.

See that's the thing. I think it's more a matter of nobody wanting them in their country. So in a way we are forcing them to starve in africa.

They cannot 'leave' their continent, theres too many people to make a mass migration like that. In their own country poverty stems mainly from the environment (huge desert) and corruption (foreign and domestic).

Penelope Tree outlined what they need, and it'll be hundreds of years before Africa is stabilized if ever. The issues foreign and domestic are too engrained to move in short order, just the same as the rest of the world which history has shown will never be made perfect.
