South Australian Gynopilus

:mushdance::mushdance::mushdance:  SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GYMNOPILUS  :mushdance::mushdance::mushdance:





Am new to the state of South Australia and will be venturing out into the great outdoors a lot this season.

Already on some early hunts I have been thrilled by the Gymnopilus species that abound in the pine and eucalyptus forests.

Species of Gymnopilus are not considered active in Southern Australia, maybe G. Purpuratus...........




Rather than clog up the SOUTH AUSTRALIA 2013 hunting thread I'm going to post all the pics of my gym finds here.

Feel free to post your own pics of gyms and any relevant info etc........:thumbup:





Just the other day Lord of the Gnomes and myself spied THIS


And a day later I found another............

   

Have printed the first find and will endeavour to have it looked at.:thumbup:

Bit of weather a week or two ago then little showers every other day.......:biggrin:

Amongst and out of Pine stumps



Drove past these a few days ago, they were visible from the side of the road.
Went back this afternoon and spent a while......................:biggrin::bong:




               

                                   



           

                                 


         


           




I suspect they are all variations of Gymnopilus Junonius with the colour blushes coming from the local conditions.








I'll be on an island in the south of the state tomorrow..........:biggrin::bigjoint::bong:
I'll be on the look out for fungus, especially Gyms:billymaythumbup:

Some very nice shots there Olive. Looks like you got the camera worked out:thumbup:. BTW was the G.Purpuratus you found at a different location or near the first finds? I'll see if I can't get some shots on the green bruising gyms I found in my first season.

These finds


   


Were in a different spot to the Suspected Gym Purpuratus that we found.
The two suspected Gym Purps were found within a few KM's of each other.


Be great to see some of those green bruising Gyms!!:fonda:

Great thread olive and Wow that's a huge Gym there, i am defiantly keeping my eyes peeled for those G. purps hopefully we can get some more documentations because i believe if they are found down south and all the way in Port Lincoln then its fair to say there must some in between, yet they seem to be few and fair. Anyhow here are some more Gyms to put your eyes on found up North, they are truly beautiful

When I look for pics of Gymnopilus Ferruginosus all I get is what is called Gymnopilus Junonius in SA........

Can you post a link to what led you to think it may be a Ferruginosus?

i believe it is Gymnopilus igniculus.
