Just did my prearranged funeral
    #18150058 -

I don't plan on dying any time soon, I just wanted to ensure I was getting what I want. I also work at a funeral home so I got an amazing discount on everything, I saved about $3,700. My total came out to $524, and I'm paying it off at $14.50 for three years. I'm getting direct cremation, with a biodegradable urn. I specified a recipient for my cremated remains, and they will make sure no religious services will be held over my ashes by my family, and I'll be put into the ocean with my urn, not interred anywhere.

But, what if you move?

Why not just pay it off all now?

The contract will still be valid. Someone will call the contracting funeral home, and then they will call an affiliated funeral home in the place where I die and they will do the removal and transport me. The funeral home is owned by a corporation that owns locations all across North America, so me moving won't be an issue.

Dude, cremation is weird. Instead of your energy going back into the earth and sustaining new life, your energy is all burnt up and you're reduced to ashes.

Gotcha, that makes sense.

Energy can not be destroyed. It may not directly feed the worms, but it will get back there eventually.

Nah, when you're cremated your energy is converted into the energy of the flame. It wont go back to anything living directly, it'll just heat up the air around the cremation device and that heat energy will excite the molecules of the air and dissipate amongst all the molecules of the air. If it gets back to anything living, it'll be indirect and in the form of heat.

I love the idea of my chemical energy being directly used by all the small and large organisms around my burial ground, but maybe that's just me. I'm personally tending towards the idea of having a tree planted on top of my burial ground, and rather than having a cemetery where my family is buried to have a forest where all our energy is converted directly to support the ecosystem. :hippie:

My wife wants a redwood planted on her.
For some reason I thought you couldn't bury people on your own property. Looks like I can. Also guessing my recent searches raised a few red flags :tinfoil:

I just wanna be buried with no embalming, no vault and minimal coffin. Paper bag over my face would also be fine with me.

And yeah,  a tree would be nice. Is this possible in this day in age?

That's why I'm going with something very biodegradable or no coffin at all.

I think it's possible but you probably have to do it on your own land or on some communal land which allows it. That's why I'll probably start my own family forest, if I don't decide I'd rather be send out into space, on some land out west.:yesnod:

I for one have planned something spectacular for my earthly remains. I think it's completely useless to pay people to just throw you in a hole in the ground. Not fun, not lucrative for you and yours, nobody learns anything from it.

So much useful stuff you can do with yourself instead.

For myself I envision some sort of art piece, quite large and psychedelic, with many eyes, a lot of color, sort of like an oversized throne or altar, with my ornate skeleton in the center. Will take years to make, but I'm pretty sure it will end up making a shitload of money (depending if I make it big as an artist by then or not) and also end up somewhere on display. Or stay in my family for generations, also fine. People can look at it, ponder their own mortality, and see one dude who thought it was funny

Yes no embalming and a pinewood casket is quite common, minus the bag over the face. Purchasing a grave plot is really expensive, so that's why I went the cremation route. In most cemeteries you have to purchase the grave plot, and pay for a concrete liner, and either an annual fee or a large one time payment for upkeep of the cemetery.

Yes, but apparently mine came with a house and property. Sadly it's my wife's mom that can get free tractor rentals....

The timing, it's all off. Then again, I keep telling my wife I will win the race. Sadly I will probably be the one using the shovel.

Yes.
Search up "Natural Burials".
Also if you own land check your state laws. Seems private burial sites are more legal than I ever thought.

 your tractor line has my laughing.....

Settled, Au natural it is for Mr shLong.  May I rot in peace.
I would prefer a cardboard coffin, but if pine is the bottom of the line then so be it. Seems like I'll turn to soup before the coffin goes, though.

I have to do Mrs. MPD's here right directly.  Not much to do, just toast her to a nice crisp.  I'll spread her somewhere neat and that will be that.

Then we do the wake!  And it will be a wake and bake wake!

When you die your energy goes back no matter what, your body is just the physical you, a dead body has no energy.
