I kinda thought it did too, I listed movies I felt had good "eye candy." Although some Star Wars, Harry potter, and Transformers sucked, plus I'd be surprised if someone hasn't heard of them...

I have to disagree. Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR, Transformers, The Matrix all have beautiful scenes to look at, and put you in another world. All the special effects, CGI, etc. are also pretty fun to look at, even better when you're high.

Shutter Island is a little dark, but has some nice views, as well as Beetle Juice.

Inception has some pretty awesome sites too, and the CGI is amazing.

Fantasia is all eye candy, and Cloud Atlas I actually have yet to watch, but looking at the trailer it looks amazing!

A Scanner Darkly fits the criteria, I think.

another beautiful movie is Farewell, My Concubine. it's visually stunning, and quite a stirring film.

Heavy Metal is pretty befitting of eyecandy for its time. Shit I still think it's a visually brilliant movie.

I just disagree with the fact you said the other movies aren't very nice or beautiful. I posted eXistenZ for the same reasons you mentioned.

i was warning people that they are violent and intoxicating affairs. that's all. have you seen Dead Ringers? have you seen A History of Violence? i excluded eXistenZ from the directors other movies, which were more so violent and dark, then the fantastical eXistenZ, which albeit still dark, a lot less so...

It seems while I was offline this thread got AWESOME! Lots of movies to add to my list and I have a free weekend ahead! :laugh:

I agree with akira_akuma, Cronenberg has a good eye for visually stunning scenes, but his style is pretty evil. Movies like The Fly or Videodrome are imaginitive and gorgeous, but I wouldn't want to be watching them while tripping. And lets face it, a lot of people are going to use this thread to source some movies for tripping :smile:

Someone already said Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind and I agree. This movie is both eye and mindcandy, truly beautiful story with breathtaking scenes. I also recommend Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, both from the same writer. They're both quite mindfucky, but in a love-making sort of way :smile:

I also have to mention Dario Argentos' Suspiria and Profondo Rosso, they both have a lot of unnecessary scenes and dialogue IMO, but man this guy knows how to use colors. Every murder scene in these movies is a visual masterpiece! Also the band Goblin made awesome soundtracks to both of them. I would not suggest these two for tripping, although the soundtracks could work pretty well :smile:
