phantasytour.com allows child pornaugraphy.

I have seen many threads on this site linking to child pornaugraphy and the threads don't get modded for most of the day. The members say they click on the links then talk about the pornaugraphy. Pretty fucking disgusting how they openly do this and get away with it. The members that post the links never get banned.
What is up with this? I know that the bassist was caught taking nude photos in a secluded boat house, and got away with it by explaining they were "art photos" and then paying the family to keep it out of court. The Phish fans don't seem to care about this at all, and now it is a common thing to find them posting links.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH THIS SHIT?  The site needs to be shut down and people responsible should be locked up.

He was caught in the boat house by New York State Police. The girl was reported missing so they did a huge search for her, and low and behold the find her in the boathouse. He did have a court date and the charges were dropped because Mike pulled a Michael Jackson. The biker gang was the Hells Angels.

Phish head here. I'm not replying to defend phish's music or mike gordon's actions but instead I might shine some light on the issue of PhantasyTour.

A couple things:

1) PhantasyTour is a web site forum split into several forums for several bands. It's not solely a phish message board. There are also forums for widespread panic, disco biscuits, yonder, moe, and several other jam bands. The phish board (aka green board) is definitely the most popular board though.


2) PhantasyTour is a formatted much much differently than message boards like this one for instance. The format on phantasytour (PT for short) is for quick conversation and threads have a post count limit that gets reached very quickly and then the thread is locked. The main page of threads changes constantly at peak times and you're lucky if a crappy thread stays on the first page for more than a minute or two. I am not defending child pornography and I think people who are into that are disgusting human beings. However, threads move so fast on a messageboard like PT that I can imagine its very difficult to keep up with things. Personally I have clicked on a few links by accident on that website that I was not ok with. Pretty pissed off actually. But, I can understand why a lot of illicit links slip through over there when threads are hot and cold in a matter of minutes.

3) PhantasyTour is a known cess pool of garbage posts and extreme negativity. It has been quite some time since I've actively posted there. It was once a great venue for talking about the band phish but has gone way south in recent years.

4) PhantasyTour is an unofficial forum for several bands. The bands are not active in moderating or administration of the forums.


Again, I'm not in anyway defending child porn, posting of child porn links, or PT greenboard's inability to monitor threads with disturbing links but merely trying to give some perspective to the issue. I agree it is pretty disturbing but the tone of the posts in this thread so far wreak of bias towards the band Phish, whose music understandably does not sit well with many people, but that's not the point here.

Floating, you have shared some good points. The kiddie porn problem is stemming from the green board, and going unchecked. You are correct that phish doesn't own pt. Phish does advertise there in the ads, for selling tickets and tour promotion. This could be a problem for the band if they continue to advertise on place that is connected kiddie porn.

I think the advertisements that popup in the margins of the website are keyword and user cookie generated through an ad optimizer type code setup web thing (can you tell I don't know what I'm talking about with the web slang?). So yes, you will get a lot of ads for phish stuff whether its merchandise or concert tickets because you're on a website full of the word "phish". If you look carefully all sorts of ads will popup if you visit the site enough, different bands, different festivals, different brands, etc.)

Is that to say that every single band that has an web ad that pops up in the ad regions of the website can be liable for the posting of child porn links too?

Your logic seems a little off to me.

I never said that Phish is liable for PT. It might be smart of PHISH to let the ad company know they want their ads pulled from the site. If they don't they will be dragged into this scandal because PT green board is the largest Phish message board on the internet.

Might as well open this can of worms:

The whole mike gordon thing is unbelievable blown out of proportion and quite slanderous. Its not hard to understand why people are immediately disgusted when they here the words "child, and taking pictures, and 38 year old man" but the story gets changed so much everytime I hear it repeated on message boards or even in person.

Some say it was on a boat, some say it was a dark boathouse, some say it was in the woods, some say he was taking pictures of her fully clothed other stories say she was nude. It really just depends on how much people all ready hate the band. That usually determines how far people want to slander the situation. The original story was poorly written and left out a lot of details. Doesn't really matter because people will make up their own real quick when it comes to accusations like these. From the last I heard of it the official statement from phish was that both parties agreed that it was a misunderstanding and no charges were brought. Now, yeah, this definitely could mean a number of different conclusions could have been met. But people all ready have their minds made up and that's not going to change.

It sucks to be Mike Gordon but if you look into the story he didn't make the smartest decisions that day but he's not a pedophile either. He did get his ass beat and balls stomped proper by the hell's angels. That is for damn sure.

People like to be anti-Phish because of all the assumptions and stereotypes that surround the band and it's Phans. Whatever, your loss. They're incredible musicians who have impacted a ton of people, have a huge fanbase, and are more original and talented than most of the generic EDM/trance/house/trap garbage that's favored by hippie types. :shrug:
