Prerecording double drops?

I was asked to play a 4 hour set, which is going to take place tomorrow.
My question to all of you is if you feel it would be shitty of my to prerecord a few 6-9 minute segments where I would be layering a lot of different sounds and relying a lot on timing.
And the same with a few double drops.
Also haw many double drops do you feel like is a good number for 4 hours?

And input would be appreciated. :peace:

2drops x 4hrs x ((6x9)/2)~songs/hr = 60 <-That many.  it's the approach I use.

So you're saying to have a double drop every four minutes?
That's WAY too many.
No offence but do yo uknow what a double drop is?

I'll define it becasue I'm sure quite a few people don't know.

It's not just a drop, but it's when you get two more more songs to build up and drop simultaneously.

I would only want to use them for moments of climax.

I've experienced like 6 double drops since I first responded.  woop...there goes another.

its like that rush you get from good acid.
yeah, maybe you should limit them if you don't like the rush

If you're playing for that long I think you're allowed as many tricks up your sleeve as you like, maybe you won't even need them?

There is nothing wrong with a few prerecorded segments for a 4 hour set.
Also, there is no standard as to how many drops/double drops you should have in any given time period.

It all comes down to the genre, and intensity of the music you're playing.

Play through your set a few times, and see how it feels.
Make changes on the fly to fit your preference.


Personally, I'd have 2 ten minute prerecorded clips so I could use the bathroom, smoke a bowl, or drink a beer.

Don't make your prerecorded clips super intense and technical though.
I think people would be put off when they realize you're not actively controlling the music when it is doing really badass things.

Just have a good playlist, double drops/beat matching isn't as important.

That last part is very true...

And ya, the first 8 minutes or so will honestly most likely just be this.

Yeah, it would be hard to turn down seeing Tokimonsta and DJ Shadow.

I'm not too keen on Bassnectar shows anymore, but they used to be pretty awesome.

I still like his old stuff better, the mood of it for fure, lack back when he made more downtempo, but has his own sounds, and you can always telll when he is involved in a track.
I just really like bassnectar... :lol:
