ASSASSIN'S LENNON AUTOGRAPH FOR SALE



The autograph BEATLES legend JOHN LENNON gave to gunman MARK DAVID CHAPMAN hours before he murdered the singer is for sale.

Chapman approached Lennon in New York with a copy of the star's DOUBLE FANTASY LP - which he recorded with wife YOKO ONO - and asked for his signature.

The signed album was later discovered hidden inside a planter near the bloody entrance of Lennon's home, the DAKOTA building, following the former BEATLE's tragic death on 8 December 1980.

The memento available at MOMENTSINTIME.com - which sold for $460,000 (GBP287,500) four years ago - is expected to attract bids up $525,000 (GBP328,125) this time around, according to website PAGESIX.

Recently, Lennon's handwritten copy of Beatles track NOWHERE MAN sold for $455,000 (GBP284,375), encouraging the autograph owner to put his prized possession under the hammer.
