Spanish Speakers? Have Question Please - Se Habla Espanol? Tengo pregunta...
    #18030751 -

Como se dice en español "by candlelight." Por ejemplo:

La Mona Lisa, [by candlelight]

I tried a couple of online translators, but all I'm getting is

La Mona Lisa, a la luz de las velas

Is that correct? Esta bein o no?

Thank you... grácias!

Pretty sure that's right. "The Mona Lisa, to the light of candles."

Probably about the most fluid translation you're gonna get.

i think "por" is "for" in english.

and "a la" is "to the".

Por can mean "by" or "for" depending how it's used.

That would probably be more understandable to native speakers.

Good catch, Taco.

In this sense, since you're talking about the painting being lit by the candles, "por" would be preferred since its shorter and literally means "the Mona Lisa by (next to) the light of the candles".
Just what I would say. I'm a native speaker and grew up in a Spanish-speaking home so there's my credibility. Again, just what I would say.

I find what native speakers consider insulting to be very interesting, as well.
A lot of Arabic insults involve.. shoes. And sticking dicks in things they don't belong in. Which in itself might not sound too out of place, until you consider that a legitimately grave insult is "a thousand dicks in your beliefs/religion/mother".

Not just one dick, a-fucking-thousand dicks.
