A local company makes these sweet battery powered mowers  Neuton

I snagged a CE6 while helping a friend move.  Looked like it would make a good straw chopper.

Make sure it doesn't bog down.  I used an electric weed whacker for awhile to chop straw but the motor fried once it got loaded a bit.

I'll switch hosting for the video.  Can't get the forum flash plugin to take the video from google+

You can't throw whole flakes into the hopper but its burly enough to handle a steady stream of loose straw.  Blew through a bale in 10 minutes.  Most of that time is keeping the straw pushed back in the cage so it doesn't back up into the machine.  To get a real fine chop takes a second pass which hardly takes any time at all.  Still working out some bugs but am pretty happy with it.  Perfect for my friends spin-off oyster operation.
