Need next electric guitar and amp recommendations
    #17989834 -

So i've landed a decent job and im about to have another good one in a few months, also been falling deeper and deeeper in love with guitar. Decided lately i want to get another electric and a better amp, im not worried about the price so much though, im worried about the sound produced and reliability. I just want a really good top notch babygirlll ill still proudly have in 10 years that doesn't have a dumb pricetag.

Currently i have an ibanez hollowbody acoustic/electric and while i love her, the sound type just really doesnt sound completely right with some songs. Same deal with the amp, need a good one for not a stupid price.

Suggestions? Please only answer if you have at least reasonable experience, thanks

You could always go with the classic fender stratocaster or a gibson les paul. They aren't that cheap at a little under $1000 (you always could go with the epiphone les paul or mexican made strat if you don't wanna spend that much). But they are both awesome guitars that will stand the test of time if you take care of them, and pretty much every guitarists has one at some point. Everyone has their preference on gibson vs. fender. Personally, I like the fender strats more even though I started off with a Les Paul. I just like the sound and feel more, but it really is all just preference of course.

But definitely go play around with those and some more at your local guitar store and see which one feels good in your hands. That's all that really matters (and a good sound of course). For an amp, I would say go get a nice tube amp. They produce a really nice, warm sound. I've got a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for jamming in my room or with some friends and I absolutely love it. It was somewhere around $500 when I bought it.

A Gibson will cost you quite a bit more than a Fender. Gibsons are mostly over $2000 or close to it. American built Fenders cost half or less, except for some special edition models. Yes, stratocaster and les paul are probably the two most classic sounding guitars, and arguably the two most beautiful guitars on earth. Works of art. It's a thinner vs a fatter sound. You've seen them in bands so you know what I'm saying. Telecaster is cool if you like the older twangier tone. And also as previous poster mentioned, you can get a Mexican built Fender or a Epiphone version of a Gibson for $400 or a little more. Play before you buy. Stretch them out ot tune, retune them and see how it works.  Some are quite good and some have quality issues with the hardware.  Their are other Gibson Guitars that are very good, SG, Firebird, Explorer, plus the semi-hollow bodies like ES335. You can get other good makes like Ibanez, or many newer companies, that can play quite well. But for me and millions of other people there is no aura quite like pulling out a Fender or a Gibson. Other than some metal bands, almost every pro is playing those two brands.
I don't know that much about amps. Fenders sound good and the black and silver look is completely classic. Some newer makes will give you all kinds of built in effects at a reasonable cost. Even if you don't think you're into the effects, using them at lower intensity can still make playing more interesting.
