Even such open-minded folks as yourselves have trouble grasping this undeniable fact.
    #17987006 -

There is no universal moral code that we should all live by. There is no such thing as right and wrong, good and evil. There are no good people or bad people. It's all subjective. Your standard of morality is something you were taught, not a crucial part of your psyche that needs to be preserved and nurtured. Give up on those primitive ideals and truly  set your mind free.

Its all very true. Conversations with god is all about this topic in general. I mean I could go on about this forever, but whats weird is that these kind of topics are coming up more and more. Maybe I am just noticing more.

Protecting your young isn't a matter of moral obligation, it's just primal instincts. I'm sure if I had a child I'd protect them with my life, but I would still know this to be true.

You have a good point. universally there are no true morals, but there is still good and bad i think. there are some things that across all cultures are bad, even if they are socially accepted norms, they are still bad, and the same goes for good, like helping your neighbor or friend or brother is a good deed in any culture. now i definately agree there arent good or bad people per se, we all have both good and bad in us, but what separates a good person is the one who makes an effort to conquer the bad in him or her self. to be honest though, good and bad are such abstract concepts that its really hard to find where you stand on the idea.

Perhaps protecting them isn't a moral obligation (personally I think it is, at least in the beginning, cause as a man I don't think it's as primitive intuitively but I digress) but what about the guy poking them with his ding-ding?
Is there no right or wrong in poking an innocent child with your ding-ding?

everything is subjective to the point one could have multiple views on the same point and time and none are exactly the same.

personaly I feel I have what would by the society I live in "strong morals"

although im not a moral person I do believe in a natural karma that has a lot to do with expectations from what you put in.
such as a guilty person when caught will  forfit their freedom compared to one who is unjustly accused. just much more subtle and consistent.

I realized this on a mushroom trip when I questioned myself for smoking too much weed.  I was feeling guilty about smoking all day every day and I got the idea that I shouldn't feel guilty because it's neither right or wrong.  As long as you are enjoying life then you're doing it right and there's nothing else to worry about.  Recently I stopped smoking not because it's wrong, but because of the effects that it was having on my behavior.

I understand where you're coming from here. But even you are just some idealistic person preaching his opinion and free mind morality for us to follow.

It's our morals that assist in us in being an individual. It is what dictates our actions and reactions. Without moral fiber, we disolve back to some form of babbling beasts. No one would have the morality to create for themselves or others, to more advancements in life, no more love or hate or care. We would just be. An existence living in the shadow of human potential.

Morally, we are who we are because we were made that way. Through our life experiences and consequences, we built ourselves as a logical being ready to grab at the world and act upon a hearts desire.

Now, we could just not care about anyone but ourselves, but then we would become heathens, independent and territorial monsters. Humans are not a happy thing, we are dark and full of negativity (moral code or bar none)

I am certain you are well aware of our gruesome past as a human. Our basic barbaric natures and desires would destroy this would had we not developed a moral understanding.

As much as I would love to just be me, I am more happy being me with a moral code living life positively effecting the ones I care about.

My answer to this is that our default state, right now, is completeness, love and ecstasy. So you're right, there is no code, but there is no motivator for violence either, naturally, if you're just awake. Humanity is asleep and dreaming insane dreams.

I think his basic point is that in the grand scheme of things there is literally no "right" or "wrong" "bad" or "good" etc. These things are literally all in our heads. We have basic instincts passed down through generations that guide the way we act based on certain situations, but the idea to think that something could be right or wrong is completely in our heads. Throughout history humanity has changed is view of right and wrong completely and several times over. I guess it can come down to several different conclusions, one being to stop feeling guilty about anything. Whatever you feel, think, etc is completely in your head and completely your choice.

As for getting lynched. That depends completely on the person. You can have a person who is scared out of their mind thinking how wrong it is that they are being lynched, or you have a person who is all accepting to what is. Which situation is the right or wrong one? Everyone will have a different opinion depending on whats in their head.

Being open-minded in the sense you're talking about is the exact opposite of what you're suggesting. Being open-minded is about accepting other's beliefs and morals and pretty much them as a whole as their own creations, and what they think or believe is their choice. The opposite of that would be telling people what you think is right and how you think is how everyone should feel or talk or believe. So basically right now, by telling us that the moral codes that we decided to follow are incorrect because morality doesn't actually "exist(a word that can mean many things depending on how you interpret it)", and telling us that there is this undeniable fact about morality shows you as being a close-minded person. There is no undeniable fact about morality, because everyone interprets it differently. Everyone's entitled to their thoughts and people need to respect that, once this happens everyone's minds will truly be set free.

I mean WRONG! Bad, undesirable, not good, unhealthy and stinky.

Yea and they have donkey shows in Mexico.

I understand there are no right and wrongs when it comes to decisions that will solely affect yourself, but my issue lays with doing something that would affect another human being negatively. Poke yourself in the butt, who cares. Poke someone in the butt who doesn't' want to be poked, well I'm sure that persons going to think something is wrong with that.

I really wouldn't say I can't grasp that idead. I totally agree.
And I havn't even taken shrooms yet...

Everyone who hasn't his head up his ass can see that.

The only "universal code" that would be nice if it would be used by everyone (which is fucking impossible) would be Kant's golden rule: "Always act that way, that your acts could become a law." or "Only do things to others you would be okay with happening to yourself."

Greetings,

There are no right and wrongs in the sense that there is no universally category that determines things.
You can't just universally say it's bad. YOU think it's bad. The victim probably too. But the perpretator doesn't.
Maybe (which is unlikely in this situation) the perpretator even did it with a good intention in mind or because he had no other choice.

You could say everything that is in any way negative for someone is bad, but that's really fucking superficial thinking.
Like when someone robs a bank you would say it's bad. But if he did it because he needs the money to get food for his son or something you wouldn't call it bad anymore.

Things are only bad or good in the eyes of the beholder. Not from a universal point of view.
You can't just categorize specific things or situations into a two sided list. (I mean you can, but that's just your point of view then)
