Ableton 9

Who else has got it already? Or is going to be getting it?

I just upgraded from Live to Suite. I'm downloading Suite 9 and Max for live right now.

Sooooo excited. Max for live looks incredible, can't believe it's included free.


I'll probably be buying an Ableton Push controller soon.

As far as I see it ableton is for making sounds, if I wanted to produce I would use something else.

To make sounds I can use 8.

yea i might upgrade eventually to 9 once i can afford it, and quit using cracked copies

looks nifty, big step up from 8
looks like they have taken alot of ideas off other previous DAW
which is all good anyway

i havent looked much into the push controller yet

but i would like to look into the differences between the push and the apc40 midi controller

Hah. It's actually for playing music live, but yes, it is superior for sound design.

I actually really enjoy it for composition as well. It makes your work flow incredibly fast compared to other DAWs; and if you use the right VST's, I don't see why you'd have to incorporate an entirely seperate DAW.

Considering the possibilities Ableton has with Max for live, it is capable of doing anything and more than any other DAW.
The only thing it really can't do is surround sound mixing.

hahahhaha, you realize max/msp has been around for 20 years right? 

Does that mean there was no way to use max/msp in abelton before now?

also, i'm not sure what the advertisements are trying to say about midi.

abelton now has basic midi functionality?  cool.

no,no,no
Ableton has always had basic MIDI function, they have just added some new functionality.
And While Max/MSP has been around for a long time, Max for Live is different.
Ableton is the only DAW with it's own Max client.

I was looking into ableton one time, and even wanted to see if I could crack it. I guess it didn't come cracked, but I don't know what didn't work.

People have talked about this like it's some sort of godsend, it's incredibly expensive though and I don't know how to test it out even.

Any other good cheaper software that does the same thing? at least on some level?

Renoise is an incredibly cheap DAW that has lots of functionality.
The interface is wayyy different, but there are some really good producers out there who make it work amazingly for them.

Ableton 9 looks awesome man, that's really cool you can record automation in a clip now, something I wanted to do on 8 actually.  I bought 8 almost a year ago, I dont get a free upgrade so probably won't be buying it but still, looks like a dope new program

and yeah the push controller looks killer

You can make automations in FL10, I'm cheap lol, I just use massive+FL.

Someday though....someday

i need a serious gear upgrage...new computers, new controllers, new ableton...the works. I NEED IT...

gonna hustle up some stacks...get a more fluid and robust live setup...if i can get that aspect going as opposed to being strictly a producer...i might get signed to a label this year.

So far I am super impressed with the Glue compressor and the new EQ8, both of which were done by cytomic.

Also, having Max for live has expanded my DAW's functionality sooooo much.
I feel like a little kid on christmas day :grin:

hey man

whats the whole max for live add to the DAW
i think my cracked version of 8 suite has got max for live but i think you need a legit copy to have max, not sure, but yea , im keen to know what the fuss is about

Max makes creating VSTs very easy, but you have to have Max to use the tools made inside of it.
If you have max for live, go to http://maxforlive.com and look at the library of downloads. There are tons of user created tools, effects, and instruments to be used; and almost all of them are free.
Some of the users contributing to the Max community are very knowledgeable and use complex algorithms.

TL;DR: Max for Live makes Ableton Open Source in regards to it's devices.

Say you wanted to rewire one of your synths internally. Max allows you to do that.

Im quite curious about the push and what it can do for my workflow.
