The programs sync well as long as you have their settings correct for sample rate, etc. I agree with someone on here, you can get good sound from ableton or anything else, but sometimes there are quirks. Get used to the quirks of a certain program, that works for me.

I LOVE Ableton! I have so much fun with it. Got myself an Maudio trigger finger, maudio keystudio, bunch of soft synths and effects, Firebox interface, Even studio monitors. I can have fun all day on this stuff.
Click on my Sig link to hear some of the stuff I make with Ableton. If you have some of your own stuff post it on here, I'll check it out.
Mr Bill's Tunes has a TON of info on Ableton. As well as Glitchhopforum.com and the ableton forums.
To anyone who gets frustrated with it. All I can say is get the manual and read it front to back. It makes everything way easier.

Ableton & Reason go great hand in hand. The level of control in Reason with its ability to re-wire all the back of Rack wires is fantastic for production. Generally I produce my sound's with Reasons Synth's then move all into Ableton, anything I cant achieve in Reason (or I want more dynamic control) I produce with VST's in Ableton. Then use the Send's & Effects racks to customise the audio on the fly. Also been playing with Traktor Pro 2 recently, you can produce some really cool mashup's with its loop & sample tracks, and alto less effort to prepare tracks for mixing then in Ableton.

Hey guys, I'm bumping this thread with a question.
I LOVE Ableton, and it totally fits my workflow/style of making music. I'm using a cracked version of 8.1.1 right now, and I actually do plan on buying it at some point... in a few years, maybe, depending on this answer.
So I'm sure going from like 8.1.1 to 8.2.5 would be free, but when Ableton 9 comes out, would I have to re-purchase it? If so, fuck that, I'm going to keep pirating.

Interesting... Any idea how much?
And any idea how often they do the upgrades? It cant be more than just a year to a few years cause there's 8 versions out already... And considering Ableton Suite is like 900 dollars, thats kinda shitty. It would be different if it was like 5 years between versions, but I know Ableton 1 didnt come out 40 years ago.
[after some research] So Ableton first started un 1999... That means 8 versions have come out in 12 years.
Looks like I'll be pirating this shit for... well, probably ever.
