stereotypes of canadians that I'm aware of:

-freeloaders
-hospitable
-polite
-apologetic

I'm curious about the freeloader comment? What does that pertain to? It's one I have never heard before.

As a Canadian it is a great thing to be able to travel anywhere in the world with a Canadian flag on my backpack and be welcomed with open arms. Only time I have ever had a problem while traveling was when I was mistaken for being American. Go figure-eh

A lot of stereotypes about canada come from movies and tv, so they try to exaggerate minor differences for a laugh.

E.g: People from anywhere in canada but quebec speak with a uniform and strange sounding accent that sounds like a mix of scottish and the weirdest sounding midwestern US accents.

The thing about all of canada being extremely cold compared to the US is another myth to some degree, a fairly large chunk of the US is further north than Toronto and colder than Toronto or Vancouver.

The part about people saying sorry all the time is totally true though, I do it myself.
