Bearded dragons are great for anyone who wants their first reptile.

I heard Geckos can be mean.

Really?  Is this true for Leopard Geckos, Gumby? Because they look the friendliest and I want one now.

Leopard geckos are a good starter lizard. My friend who has a reptile rescue told me that the crested Geckos are skittish and bite a lot.

It all depends on how much you handle them. My crested gecko is quick as shit and has bitten me two or three times in 4 years, but I hardly ever hold him. My ex had a fat female that she held for a few minutes everyday and that thing would just chill on your shoulder or head and not try to escape at all.

If you handle cresteds a lot, no problems. Any reptile that isn't used to being handled has the potential to be skittish and bite. A buddy of mine growing up had the same "look but rarely touch" approach to reptiles that I do and his leopard gecko was mean as shit. That thing bit the hell out of me on several occasions. On the other hand, that was the only mean leopard gecko I've seen because most people who have them handle them somewhat frequently.

My bearded dragon, Silent Bob:

Zero fucks given by this little guy, after four years of daily handling he's about as imprinted on people as I imagine a lizard could be. He chills harder than either man or beast has ever chilled before. :vaped:

Crested Geckos are dicks. It is known.

Leopard Geckos can be very good pets if you're down with:

A. Their nocturnal schedule

B. ~30 year life span if well cared for.

i love my leopard gecko! she is so chill, bitch is getting old though--going on 15 years. i also have a soft spot for savvys.

man, i miss both of them. my sister has them because i can't. :frown:

i need to get updated pics.

oh, and snakeys!!

the albino corn is going to be 18 very soon, around march 10th; got him for my 9th birthday as a hatchling; he was so tiny!

the gopher i've had for about 8 years, wild caught by a friend who decided he couldn't keep him, so i took him in. i guess he's around 9 or 10; possibly less, it's hard to say. he's at least 8, though.

That's a good looking Leopard Gecko, little bastard will probably outlive us all

Is that second lizard one of yours? He'd be pretty intimidating if his face wasn't all derpy and adorable. People who haven't seen a bearded before think mine looks dangerous with his "spikes" and all for about two seconds until he slides down some surface he was trying to climb and does an awkward back flip

I don't find snakes as personable as lizards can be but they're fun to play around with. People always tweak over potential snake bites but frankly, after working with the sick animals in a pet store for a few years, if something [nonvenemous] were to bite me i'd prefer it was a snake -- little hypodermic needles instead of gnarly ass jagged yellow rodent teeth or reptile saw teeth. It's over in a second and you hardly feel a thing. Corn snakes like yours are very mellow anyway -- I had a roommate with a red tailed boa that liked putting its teeth in people; It got to be seven feet long and he strung a cargo net on the ceiling for it to climb around on -- It would get up from a bed post. Nightmare fuel that one was. :uhoh:

Hah yeah, same here. I'd much rather be bitten by a boa or python than a rat or a monitor lizard. Those fucking hurt. Snake bites ain't so bad (as long as they're under ~6 feet), they just startle you. Yeah, you bleed but it's no biggie as long as you don't pull them off.

Koods: I actually have a tokay right now. Had her for about 5 years or so. Pictures of mah shit tomorrow.

savannas can be super aggressive, but Takkun was force handled a lot. she doesn't particularly like people, but she isn't mean, just anti-social.

Not a pet. Not a reptile, but this is gonna be the best place to tell you about my frog friend who has spent the past few summers in my backyard. He will, on occasion, knock on the sliding doors in the basement. Don't know why, but it sounds just like someone tapping with their knuckles. Last time, when I slid the door open, he hopped in and let me take this sexy pic.
