Menthol vs Non-Menthol Cigarettes

Hi there shroomery! I've been reading up lately on the effects of smoking menthol cigarettes over non-menthol cigarettes (or vis-versa). I wanted to get an idea of what people though about this. A lot of people and even the government are saying that menthol cigarettes are worse for you for a number of reason like
-people who smoke menthol take bigger drags, increasing the chance of smoking related health issues.
- menthol cigarettes are more addicting and harder to quit then non-menthol
-menthol smokers are twice as likely to have stroke
-and many more reasons for or against menthol cigarettes.

Here is a link with an article called Is that right? Menthol cigarettes are more dangerous? that is suggesting that menthol cigarettes are no more harmful then any other cigarettes, and may actually be LESS harmful

I would love for people to check out these articles (
both quick reads) and answer the poll and/or leave there feedback and opinions on the matter. The government has been even suggesting the ban of menthol cigarettes, similar to the ban of flavored cigarettes in 2009.

Those are some dumb reasons.
Unfiltered are probably the least healthy choice, but it's still like saying "this gun is going to kill you more than that gun".
Unfiltered cigarettes are also fucking delicious.

Well using common sense ill say this.
Cigs are bad
Soaking cigs in menthol still makes them bad
If menthol is more harmful then the already harmful cig isnt really important
Its bad either way and if youre smoking cigs justifying that the non-menthol is better for you makes no sense.
Youre risking the health effects anyways, smoke what you want.

I have heard that menthol cigarettes are worse than regular cigarette many times.

I never took the time to research it because I don't smoke. But logically, its another added chemical, so it seems to make sense.

Im already a smoker. Ive been smoking menthol and they have been really hurting my throat so I started researching. I do not believe that they are any more or less harmful though. To me a cig is a cig and they are all bad. I just wanted peoples opinions on the matter after reading up on the subject. And also im am going to make a solid attempt to quit, im sick of feeling like shit and having a soar throat all the time.

I think everyone has heard the Newport myths (or might be facts) about how they contain fiberglass in the filters.

Like everyone said tho, if you smoke cigarettes, they are all bad for you. I've been smoking for 10 years and went through maybe a year phase of smoking menthols when I was a lot younger and doing a lot of coke.

Didn't notice a difference health-wise tho in the switch. :shrug:

Thank you, i think im going to use a mixture of the patch and a low nicotine e-cig for those moments of intense craving. I used that method successfully in the past but I got lazy and didnt have enough money to buy more patches/cartridges but had just enough to buy a pack...I learned from that mistake though and think I will do much better this time around

I was up late a couple nights ago and I saw a commercial for quitting smoking.

I guess if you call 1-877-stop-now, They'll send you 2 weeks worth of free nicotine patches. I'm about to do that right now.

menthol is the least dangerious part of cigarettes. you can take huge drags of non menthol too. smoking cigs in general is bad.
