So yeah this is my ufo casing 23 days in. Tell me this isn't overlay. The casing was way dried out, and the mycellium started looking dead and tough, so I watered the thing. Poured a few caps of water onto the dryest looking areas (most of which were in the middle of the casing where nothing was growing) and then, out of nowhere this bright white myc has begun to spring up. I thought when I initiated pinning it was supposed to stop growing and start pinning. But now it seems ot be growing again.. what am I doing wrong? I know it's something. Perhaps I watered it too much?

Oh yea, in case it helps, I am misting it once daily, with the addition of perlite on the bottom of the terrarium, making sure to mist above the casing and not on it. My hydrometer is broken so I'm just guessing but the humidity should be above 90 from what Ive gathered. It gets fanned several times a day and is given indirect sunlight for a couple of hrs a day, and it is being kept at 70 -75 degrees. I intiated pinning on the 6th day (not a religious thing) after patch casing on the 3rd or 4th day. It's hard to figure out what I am doing wrong since this is my first grow basically and I have no basis for comparison. Does anyone have detailed pictures of what a heathy pre-pinning casing should look like? That would help a lot.

23 days intothe whole process or into just the casing?!
You might wanna patch those areas a little, and keep fanning & misting but dont let it get soggy... the first grow doesnt always go as planned and you cant force them to do anything. I dunno all the circumstances, but im sure you are gonna be fine :laugh: Good luck

23 days since casing. 21 days since patch casing. 16 days since initating pinning. You think I should patch case again? Also I cold shocked soon after initiating pinning if that makes any difference.

Why did you cold shock them before the mycellium finished colonizing the casing? Or perhaps I just can't see and I'm .... uh... I've got catarax? Yeah that's it! Or maybe it;s just my catarax acting up.

I didn't cold shock them before it finished colonizing, or at least I don't think I did. I patch cased, waited to see mycelium start to peak from beneath the surface, initiated pinning and cold shocked. Perhaps I should cold shock again to stop this new growth?

Interesting sherlock bowl, I don't smoke pot anymore, makes me a retard. When I did I had only glass spoons though, metal burns fingers. Ouch. Light the bowl for a hit and after 4 hits the chamber is hot as hell. I'm not praising glass though, it's just good to NOT burn your fingers on..plus it's better for you...but..yeah I am praising glass. Any-fuck, on topic, I'd say just put some verm in a bowl, get it moist and just put a shallow layer of moist verm over the whole casing, to help remoisturize some of it. I've never done casing but if it were me in your position, but since I don't grow, it's not me in your position, I'd do that.

I'm totally not trying to be a dick, but your casing sounds retarded. I'm wondering why it is taking so long. I mean, it looks great. I guess I would recommend patching as well. See what happens and good luck :grin:.

Yeah I think it is retarded. No offense to actual retards. Perhaps I should stop blowing smoke into the terrarium. Maybe that's the problem.  :wink:

But yea I think I'll go with the consensus here and patch the ufo again. Then hopefully it will sprout some aliens. We'll see...
