This would be awesome as I've pretty much exhausted every avenue I can think of :yesnod:.

to be honest i'm a bit underwhelmed at this point in time, but keep in mind they haven't been burned in yet, and are also being listened to un-amped! just using my soundcard to power them at the moment. i expect a big improvement once my Objective 2 amp arrives. i was originally going to purchase a violectric v100, but i recently lost my job and thought i better go with the cheaper version for now untill i get things sorted.

i'm sure they will improve much more once i acquire all the right parts for my audio chain and burn them in a bit though!

My friend has some LCD-2's, I couldn't tell the difference from Beyer DT880s, except that they're not even close to as comfortable.  For $1500 that's a little ridiculous.

they're definitely impressive, but they require a tonne of power to get the most out of them. they need atleast 2W of power at 50ohms, which is a very high power demand in comparison to other headphones.

they are improving even with my small Fiio e6 pocket amp and ipod as a source. i'm confident they will really start to liven up once i get a decent amp for them. it's a long term investment!

yeah dos I wanted to be a negative Nancy but I love you too much.

I think headfi is totally full of shit though.  I told you I listened to the hd650 and it sounded like total garbage.  take anything they say with a grain of salt.

the o2 seems really legit though.  I love the story behind it.

They're also the most comfortable thing you can put on your head.

haha yeahhhh like a cloud!  I wonder how long they last though.  I guess you could replace them periodically if need be.

i've heard good things about the beyers also, which model do you guys have specifically?? i'm fairly sure they have a range of different ohm headphones.

the LCD's are pretty damn comfortable. i read alot of people saying on the net how they clamp too much, and that they are too heavy and fatiguing to wear, but i've noticed no issues at all with comfort or the weight of the headphones.

and i mean realistically, playing a big set of headphones without an amp is also going to lead to lackluster results. even the beyers probably wouldn't sound that good un amped (provided they are one of the higher ohm headphones)

also TK the O2 is wonderful. it's basically an open licenced product that a guy built to rival all of the big prestiguous brand amplifiers taht are really filled with crap. he built a bare minimum basic amplifier that rivals amps worth literally 3-4 times it price. people have been unable to tell the difference between the O2 and other much more expensive amps in double blind tests.

the best part is that the guy published the build of the amp for anyone to access and build themselves. total cost of the parts i read was around 30-40$, and it can be built on your own. he also sells his own authentic versions, but even so, still at a very conservative price compared to the capabilities of the amp.

yeah soul thats whats so cooooool.

also he got banned from head-fi for running tests on the head-fi sponsor's products and making charts and graphs showing why they suck.  He's an electrical engineer so you know that shit is legit.

yeah theres almost a bit of an elitist conspiracy going on at head fi. nwavguy has made numerous puppet accounts on headfi as well sparking large debates about his products. i spoke to him when buying the O2, he's great. gave really good impartial advice as to what was best for my audio chain, even recommending products that were not his own for particular purposes. my favourite part about it all is that he rel;eased his product for free to the public and shows them step by step how to do it all themselves!

edit - also, all freeleech tokens have vanished this time :foreveralone:
