Amount of peroxide to soak Lopho seeds?

Hello, I recently got Lopho seeds :smile::smile:, and i wanted to soak them in distilled water + peroxide 3% to increase germination and reduce mold attack

So was wondering how much peroxide parts to water should i mix it in and for how long?

I am growing Lophos for the first time and don't want to screw it up

3% for 10-20mins should be sufficient, then give them a few rinses with clean water and sow. :thumbup:

I heard somewhere they should soak for 24 hours, should i put it in just the 3% for 24 hours and than rinse?

For fresh loph seed, 24 hours seems a bit excessive, it's not like lophs are tricky to break dormancy.
Larger seeds, things that are recommended to nick/stratify, would benefit more from a longer soak.

Have enough to do 2 batches? Run an experiment and post it up!

Unfortunately i dont have enough lopho seeds, but i do have tomato seeds! so i will happily try it on them and hopefully with that data we might be able to somehow extrapolate the effects it would have on cacti seeds, extremely unlikely we will find anything useful but no harm in trying it anyway, :smile:

Hello I have soaked tomato seeds in 3% peroxide with tap water for 24 hours in 4 different concentrations they are tomato seeds in;

100% peroxide 0% water,
50% peroxide with 50% water,
25% peroxide with 75% water,
0% peroxide 100% water.

I planted them in potting mix and they are currently in my greenhouse, It is currently cool in Victoria but hopefully we will see results soon.
