People have posted pics of their food as far back as I can remember though..we have the culinary arts forum after all..probably shouldve put this there.

Bacon has carcinogenic nitrates.


Mushrooms, of course. Saute and season before adding to omelette.  Avoid undercooking the inside by tossing it BRIEFLY under the broiler.

Pre-cook the veggies and drain the liquid.

An omelette should not be like a soup.

The preparation, as with any cooking, is important.

The cooking of the omelette will be quick, efficient, and professionally done if attention is given to MISE EN PLACE.

Mise en place is sometimes considered to be the difference between a cook and a chef.

If it is for company everything can be prepared ahead of time in separate containers.

Make sure there are NO pieces of shell in the Omelette, what kind of impression does it leave when they nibble on just one piece of eggshell.


If you can work in the kitchen efficiently because everything has been prepped far ahead in advance your presentation will be profession.

Nitrites. But, the reaction between nitrite and amines only happens at near charring temps. Cooking bacon in a microwave is a good way to avoid accidentally forming those nitrosamines.

Well, since we're talking about omelettes, that looks mighty nice. I like to make mine on the thinner side with caramelized onions, ham, bacon, and crumbled blue cheese or brie. :snub:
