that's right, when/how do you know its the right time to pick a mutant? Just wondering cause my iguana has some pretty long pins that are mutating, one the cap is growing on the side and the stem is still growing past it and the other is a cap that is being engulfed by the stem. how will she know the time is right?

If they're not going to develop gills and release spores then I'd pick them when they stop growing otherwise just before they start to sporulate.

yeah like what Zeronio said plus if you you are cropping all of them at once just pick it when you are going to crop just like the others.
