I need help identifying two types of mushroom, both found on an open field in New Brunswick, Canada (not far from the Maine border). The first ones are about 1.5 inches tall with thin, white stalks. The heads are a bronze-brown colour, flat, 1/2 an inch across, and have dark brown gills. The second ones are 2 inches tall. They are all white, with the exception of a very slight brown tint on the top of the convex head (3/4 of an inch wide). The gills of these are white.
you have just described two nondescript members of the family Agaricales.
read the sticky titled "brfore posting an id request read this" then give us as many details as you can.
Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
