You are wrong on the Librty Bonds Frank.  The bonds were authorized for financing within a designated geographical area.  They are "GO ZONE" bonds and the biggest recipients were the banks - this is correct, but it was SUPPOSEDLY designed to incentivize them to lend within the effected area.

So here's all the little things the US could do:

- Raises tax on cigarettes
- Add a 5 cent per gallon tax on fuel
- Add a few tolls for some busy highways
- Promote public transport
- Give a tax refund for public transportation
- Raise the price of drivers licenses by 5$
- Same thing for license plates
- Take an extra 1% on gambling establishments
- Take an extra 5% on the lottery
- Take 0.5% on Chinese imported products
- Take 2 or 3% extra on alcohol
- Take 2 or 3% on guns and bullets

Combine all these thing to budget cuts and you got yourself an extra few billions without people whining too much (or noticing too much).

Now, tell me how 100% of my idea is extremely wrong/stupid.... (cause I know its coming...)

I got a better idea.  Give energy leases out on public lands so we can harvest the vast wealth that we have found on our own territory.  Not only will this provide lease revenue but it will put millions to work (taxpayers instead of tax suckers), provide cheap energy to increase our competitive position (tax payers instead of tax suckers) and eliminate any need for dependency on unstable and somewhat odious foreign actors for our energy security.

All you espouse is taking.  You also propose fucking peanuts the entire revenue from which probably wouldn't fund the government for more than a time period that can be measured in hours.  You are not a fiscal conservative.  You are a confiscator.  Stay in Canada.  We need your advice about as much as we need that of the dispossessed Limey cunt Piers Morgan's.

The US could stop depending on odious foreign countries for energy if the US wanted to take canadian oil. But Obama refused to do so. Dick move, but it was his choice. Canada could provide 110% of the energy needed in the US for a hundred years. Both oil and electricity. We have an abundance of both. I have no idea why the US insists on buying it from venezuela and the arabs.

My ideas are still good whether you agree with them or not.

Your ideas are asshole ideas that produce nothing.  You are entirely correct that Obama is an idiot for squelching Keystone, and it seems like he might finally go for it, but we wouldn't need your energy either.  We don't need anybody's energy.  We have plenty of our own.  All we have to do is kick some enviroweenies to the curb and drill, baby, drill and then we can tell you all to piss up a fucking rope.

So you mainly want to tax the working middle-class who have suffered the worst since the economic downturn occurred, not cool.

You know that hiking taxes on products such as alcohol, cigarettes, and gasoline just reduces overall demand for the products?  Which results in less tax revenue than expected, or basically revenue neutral.

The consumption reduction also hurts the companies that are involved in production, distributing, and selling the products, which hurts workers and profits, which results in less tax revenue. So go ahead and tax everything to death, guess what you end up with? A weaker economic environment and less tax revenue, any more great ideas.

If the US had enough energy to power itself, the military would have insisted to create it all long long ago. The US doesn't have the resources to power itself otherwise it would have. Its the most obvious and effective military advantage the US could get...

The military does not run this country.  That is just ignorant.  As far as the military is concerned the petroleum reserve is sufficient for it's needs.  What does it care after that?  It doesn't pay for anything.  For being so close you sure have zero understanding of America.

Well then why the fuck are these things working up here???

All of these things contribute to revenue and the economy has been increasing despite of it and the government has been paying up its deficit. Why here and not in America? What makes America so special that a 1 cent tax increase results in a 1$ loss in tax revenue? Why are you guys so afraid of a few more dollars in tax per year??? Your state and federal taxes for individuals are like 10% less than in Canada. You got it easy as fuck and you guys are whining cause your broke.

Taxing people doesnt take money out of the economy BTW, its just transfering it around. When the gov has the money, its spends it on something. Or more smartly, it pays off the debt. The US right now needs to pay its fucking debt... So itll have to take something out of the people or businesses, it has no other choice. There's no way in hell anyone could cut 1 trillion in expense within a year.

The joints chiefs of staff seem to have a lot of power in america given that they receive 20% of the annual budget. Its the military, CIA, FBI etc. The military wants the best possible strategic position. Power independence is the epitome of defense.

Comparing the Canadian and US economies is really not worth it, while there are many similarities, there are also many big differences, too many to mention.

I agree, there are areas of spending that should be cut in the US, and I would start with military if I was in charge, but that is not going to happen.

 I'm so tired of people comparing socialist systems to a working model. We can't win from higher taxes, and taxing the rich will simply result in a further recession as they fire more and more people. The budget is a fucking joke, and congress can't pass one, what do they need higher taxes and more money for if they can't stop fucking up the money they are already receiving? Big government practically makes over a trillion a year in taxes, they can't stop spending 4 trillion a year?

Btw if socialist models work so well why the fuck are socialist countries so god damn broke? No offense

Ok look, so Americans make fun of Canada saying that were a socialist country. Canadians make fun of Americans in other ways.

But when people start to think that the jokes are true, that's where you got to draw the line...

Canada is FAR from being a socialist country. Its a capitalistic country just like the US, free market and shit. The only "social" aspect we have more than the US is our health care system.

Comparing Canada to the US is probably the closest comparison you'll get in this world in terms of economic similarities.
