I definitely feel a lot more tweaked out if I brew my own coffee. I don't not like the feeling, and the taste never matches the stuff they make, so I've given up trying.

I'm sorry on the study you posted the summary of wasn't accurate, i couldn't look at the other one.

check coffee roasting on wikipedia, it directly contradicts.

Like i said before, its also pretty obvious different cultivars are going to have different caffeine levels, another way that study is incorrect.

they're both wrong. Heat doesn't magically make or destroy caffeine. it has an effect on other things in the bean, and i'm willing to concede it could effect caffeine content by weight a bit, but i wouldn't expect that much.

When I worked at a coffee shop, if the customer was a douche, I would always decaf their ass when they came in. :shrug:

I never gave them caffeinated if they wanted decaf, because of caffeine allergies/sensitivities.

When ever I want a really good hot chocolate I go get a coffee from Starbucks... they have jack shit for caffeine I don't care what anybody tells me.

It could also be natural variability.

Studies have shown that the caffeine content in Starbucks coffee is variable. My recollection is that its a pretty large discrepancy.

I read an article a while back that had some coffee aficionado crying about this. Starbucks is piss weak even compared to other bullshit chain coffee places, let alone real coffee, according to this supposed coffee expert.

You should start making your own, OP. I did and I haven't stepped foot in a coffee house since. There are so many amazing roasts that you'll never get to try unless you do it yourself.

The only drawback is the initial startup costs. The espresso machine can be somewhat cheap, but for a good grind you'll essentially need a burr grinder, and they can be somewhat expensive. I think it's well worth it though.
