Protip: if you're interested in drugs, making a lot of money and/or chemistry, there are a decent number of companies will pay you a lot of money to go to school for pharmacy if you sign a contract saying you'll work in Alaska for a certain number of years.

Its all empty. You can drive 12 hours and still be in Alaska. The biggest city that I live in has like 600k people. And lots of people from the 48 making bread.

Manual labor in the cold. 12-14 hours a day for 2 weeks. Then you get 2 weeks off. Oil. Pipeline. Drilling. Fishing. You name it we got it.

Not really. Most of the guys I meet are blue collar working men from the states. They hate the cold too, but the bread is worth it. So they keep coming back.

I'm a bartender that's union at a hotel. The slope workers and shit stay at my hotel. I average 50-60k a year as a bartender.

Isn't there some sort of homesteading program in Alaska where if you make the land habitable (as in put in a house and electricity and plumbing and shit) you get the land for free?

Don't think so. I built a house with my dad in a small town and that shit certainly ain't free.
