OK, I've went through more than a few searches and there are literally Hundreds of posts and threads on this topic, so I'd appreciate not getting Too terribly flamed for these two questions.

ONE: I am using spore syringes from an outside source, I have B+, South American and Golden Teacher strains. I have so far had great results from South American, but the B+ was easily contaminated (I live in a high mold/spore area (EG: the woods). I got less than one flush from the B+ before it was contaminated and have another half batch trying to pin, and the South is doing great. Our first trip without leaving the farm was excellent with Super potency IMHO.

These are being grown in the "magic bags" those of you may be familiar with, with sterile medium, casing agent and inoculation ports, if done correctly (I wear masks, sterile glove and as sterile an area as can be accommodated when inoculating).

The SA strain is fast colonizing and less prone to outside contamination, I am planning to do a triple size inoculation with either SA or Golden Teacher, those WITH EXPERIENCE in both strains, and with a high possibility of outside contamination, which is MOST resistant to this environment? Without advice, I am going with SA>

SECOND: I have 3 different strains of spores to inoculate. There are tons of Tek, faq's, how to's and other opinions.

For a complete NEWB, with only ONE flush of experience with a PRE-MADE sterile bag,,,
What is the best Tek, or Medium to start with inoculation?
I have been leaning on the Vermiculite and Brown Rice (Flour?) in the 2/3 or 1/3 mixture, in glass jars, however,

For those that were new like myself, what is the most reliable substrate / method / tek that you have found for starting your spores from scratch (keeping in mind the pre-mentioned spore availability and viability). The pre-made bags are great, but expensive, and do not have a very good reproduce-ability / financial margin being they are one use.

I have no plan to sell anything, but do want a bit more than a few outings for the amount of time and money I have already invested in supplies.

I have two pressure cookers at my disposal, and a full organic laboratory if needed, however, the less I have to use these resources the better.

If you are even still reading this post, that's great, if you have Any advice for me, that's better, if you just say UTFSE, I am already doing that and have been for weeks now, so you can save your breath, not replying tells me just that :wink:

Make sure the spores you get are from a reputable source... some sites sell shit.

Be sure to follow proper sterile techniques as much as possible.

You should try making grain jars.

1 - don't worry about which strain is better. They're all Cubensis.

2 - use the PF TEK. Check out RR's videos.

3 - that was totally tl;dr material. Lots of unnecessary info.

4 - your "magic bags" aren't so magic, because they're sterilized. You'd do much better if you made your own substrate and pasteurized it. Sterile subs can work, but pasteurization is much better.

Well I'm eating a batch for my 3rd trip in the past 2 weeks, so the spores are A O K.. and that is for 2 people as well. I didn't weigh, but in the old days it would be a good fat nickle bag n a half(not sure what they go by now).

Thanks guys, on the strains, yes, they are all cubensis, however I was curious if some were more resistant than others to outside contaminates. From what I have read, some are just more readily killed out by other less than great fungus / mold.

I'll try the grain jars and that Tek, the spores are all verified Holy Shit Good IMHO> I'm new to the entire sterile environment, but have masks, gloves, pressure cookers, and lots of IPA ready.

Also, thanks for reading the TL;DR, I'll keep shit short, I tend to ramble obviously.

Off on a trip without leaving the farm.... thanks everyone.....

Holy shit that was an awesome trip. Unfortunately, ALL my bags were infiltrated by a green mold and I am trying to salvage Any more flushes, but it is not looking good.  I have a bag inoculating for a full box growth (not sure exactly what you guys call it), and am trying out the popcorn Tek ATM.

From my experience, contamination was my biggest fight. A green mold immediately tried to compete with my fungus that was more than successful for most of my bags, and I have lost 75% of my total crop to it.

I have since paid much more attention to sterilization and other factors, and being this was my first and only try, I was more than Happy to get 3 full blown trips without leaving the farm for my cash input.

I am going to work off from here and use this awesome forum to try and get better yields.

My "magic grow bag" that said it needed (1/4 cup water) after the first flush started flushing on the "bottom" of the bag, so i (using mask/gloves etc), flipped it upside down in a new bag to see if it is salvaged.  All of my crops were infected by a green fast growing mold, so I will be happy if I get anything at all off of my remaining cakes.
