why is there little mixture between the jam scene and the dj scene?

These scenes are largely highly divergent.  Why is this???  Seems like at least the electronic jam bands would appeal greatly to fans of DJs but nope.  All of my friends into edm talk mad shit about electronic jam bands even though they have not seen any of them a single time.  Conversely, people in the jam scene talk mad shit about the edm scene.  There is SOME cross over but it seems to be pretty minimal.  I have kind of wandered in between both scenes for some time but prefer the jam scene because it's less reliant on drugs to have a good time and it's fun to get into the bands.  You can't really get into DJs the same way.  What do you think shroomery? :strokebeard:

as an electronic music listener, most electronic-esque jam bands use sounds that are unrefined and often outdated to my ears.  Rhythm is one of the central aspects of electronic music and jam band stuff is different in that regard too. 
To my ears really just the tools are similar.

They're are a lot of EDM fans that like jamtronica and vice versa, but the EDM scene is a lot bigger than the electronic jam band scene so it isn't always the case.  Also there are some DJs that are a lot bigger in the jamtronica scene than the EDM scene.

Most EDM is shitty though, so it kind of figure.

I disagree I feel 90% of electro dj's are uninspired and generic :shrug: plus the play real instruments and real jams not one hand pressing a button other hand in the air mixing.

They're different things.  In electronic music timbre of the instruments in paramount.  Song structure is super rigid, rhythm is super rigid.  You don't really get that in non electronic music.  Its different types of attention.

Well yeah, that's because 'dance' music is popular, not the majority of EDM. People just like clubby shit that has the same build and drop in every fucking song :shrug:

Underground is def where its at though thats where the real cutting edge inventive inspired sounds are coming from. But like I said 90% is crap and I hate sifting through the duds.

EDM died when Jungle died and Dub took over... at least in America.. Never got into much electronic jam though.. I have started dabbling in psytrance though..

Yeah sifting through the shit electronic music is tiring.  I also find the scope of possible creativity to be limiting.  Like how are people so into house?  It's the same fucking shit like every time.  With electrojam, I feel like ANYTHING is possible and the musicianship is fucking insane.  EDM is more about the quality of the system/light show than anything.  Unless they are skilled DJs (a rarity these days it seems), they might as well just pop in their album and dance around.

That made you sound dumb.  Not saying you are, but based on that comment I'm quite sure you've never tried to make a legitimate "EDM" type song on a computer so why say some dumb shit like that?  It proves nothing except for the fact that you are ignorant as to the different forms of skill that can be required to produce music of varying genres.
