Can Itunes erase a file from your harddrive?
    #17147035 -

I swear Ive had that my morning jacket -outta my system(washed out remix) lostor deleted at least three times.  the last time it came from a data cd I burned for my ride before it got erased the time before.  I feel I had this happen with kanye wests- mercy and the I dont like remix.  Anyway I still got that shit on cd but its annoying.  I dont think I would have accidently deleted all of those and I know I didn move them.

any DRM using system (amazon kindle, amazon mp3 downloads, itunes, tivo to name but a few) has the abillity to remotely delete content on your system. If you look in the very boring legalese terms and conditions (what, 70 pages now for itunes?) there's provisions in it that they can scan your computer's music library, and delete content as they see fit, acting on the behest of third parties.

Amazon got in a little bit of shit for deleting customer's 1984 ebooks

Bruce Willis has recently condemned itunes as he found out that when he dies, he will not own any of that music, thus cannot pass it on to his daughters.

Bottom line: If you can't hold your information in your hands, or if you know the files are held in a DRM free system (flac, ogg vorbis, pcm waveform), then you don't own it. You're just renting it.

Dude, Apple can remotely do just about anything that you have an iThing plugged into. They can even remotely disable iPhones and shut them down. They can remotely turn on your GPS, mic or video camera without your knowledge. I remember when that story came out about the Apple dev that left his prototype iPhone 4 in a bar and someone stole it (big surprise), Aplle said that they had remotely wiped the phone of all data so even though the device was still "in the wild" so to speak, it was completely useless and could not even be turned on.

due to fucked up loop holes (which is in everything nowa days) you dont technically own anything.... yes you bought it, but you dont own it....
So they are able to remotely look at your itunes and delete what ever they have to.... but the reasons they delete i dont know...

Which is fucked up because if you for example bought a book etc from a store you OWN it.... and can even loan or sell to a friend if you want to.... but not with online books or music.

itunes fucked up most of my music. I had maybe 40Gb of music seperated into artist and albums neatly organized in my itunes.

Over time I started to lose songs and when I went into the folder, there was a bunch of stuff missing. Also, there were 1000 individual mp3's right in the root directory.

Fuck U apple cocksuckers
