Lol, the Baxter is done man, has been for about 2 or 3 years. I used to live two blocks from the Baxter when it was poppin. Give me a sec and I'll upload a pic of what's left of the Baxter. Only about 10 buildings left that are all bricked up. NJIT bought most of the land and it's gonna be dorms and a park.

I dunno it was like after midnight or some shit. You couldn't go into the motel parking lot without getting a room first. There was a gate and all that shit. I wanna say the parking lot was like a courtyard with the motel around it, but I could be wrong. There were som bars and shit on random corners, and there was a gas station a few blocks away. All the bars were occupied by black people and only black people. I'm pretty sure I didn't see any white people the whole time except the people I was with and the lady working the "front desk" who was of some kind of European descent.

We got kicked out real early in the AM (like, still dark out) and when we finally found the high way the on ramp we took was overgrown with trees and bushes and shit. It was hilarious.

That's not the one I was thinking of. Christ, sound's like you were in south Newark. Glad you made it out of that one alright, south Newark isn't a friendly place for people who don't live there. Actually it's not a friendly place for anyone. Cops avoid some areas.

Edit: Burke Dennings, I've been in some rough places in NJ but the hood I was in today in Patterson actually made me nervous. I've never seen so dirty looks in my life. I was glad to get the fuck out of there. Finally found 19 and hopped on the Parkway.


ah, those are my regular routes for work.
I work in Passaic, but drive all over down there for my job.
I know Passaic like the back of my hand. Love that city. Very laid back, at least compared to how it used to be.
You have every right to be scared of Paterson. That city is a shithole. Parts of it are laid out kind of like Manhattan, but some roads don't connect randomly. I got lost there one time right off of 19. Had two deliveries to do... one right off of 19, and one clean across the city at 10th ave. Figured I'd cut through the city and avoid the highways during rush hour... big mistake. I got lost in the part where it's all just names, no numbers, and was getting screamed at at every block. Offers for dope, "GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WHITE BOY," everything. Finally found 21st Ave and could fucking relax.
If you ever want a good scare, take route 21 north outta Newark and hook up with rt. 20... get off on 10th avenue. the asshole of the country no doubt.
All parts of the oranges, E. Orange can get pretty hairy for a young white kid... still, Paterson is by and far the worst, IMO.
You mentioned Bayonne... Bayonne's a nice town man. Far from a ghetto. haha.
Don't know Newark too much, at least the areas far removed from 21. If I'm ever in Newark, I'm taking 21 into it, or getting off 280 at exit 13 to take some back roads to hook back up with 21 for Passaic. but Passaic, Clifton, Ptown, the Oranges, I know 'em all very well.
If you're every on 80 West and get off on the exit for 19/Downtown Paterson and take the ramp for 19, there's a nice homeless colony under the overpass.

And Irvington... good god. I've never been and do not want to ever be in that city. I've heard stories from guys who live there and go there to cop and I don't wanna come within 5 miles of that place...
Prospect Park over the river from Paterson is also another complete shit hole. Got lost there one time, fucking crack houses, guys dealing on the corner, fucking pits wandering the streets, crackheads everywhere... fuck Prospect Park.

I go to school now about 20 minutes outside of Camden. Apparently (legitimately) the worst city in the nation. I'll have to check it out for myself.

We're pretty sure a plainclothes tailed us until we got on the highway, but we were all also pretty strung out at that point.

apparently that happens a lot down there.
I know a kid who used to go into Ptown to cop rolls and would bring them back to the sticks where we live and make shit tons of money.
The cops there aren't dumb, they know there is no fucking reason for random preppy looking white kids (like he was) to be in the bowels of their city when there's no white people in the city at all except in like 2 blocks nowhere near where they are.
I've heard of kids going there to cop, getting followed to the highway, and popped for something like not using a blinker and getting arrested.

Yeah none of us were too surprised, hence why we thought it was possible, but it's also possible we were just out of it and paranoid. Didn't really matter, dude driving was sober (though you would never guess) and he drove fine. It was like 6 am or something at this point. They dropped me off at the PATH and I took the train back to my sisters and she was all "What the fuck are you doing back so soon?" so I told her the story and she told me I was an idiot :lol:

hahaha. well, like you said, at least it's a good story.
Our cities never fail to impress me. I'm there all day, every day, doing nothing but driving around all over the place.
Everyday, I see something new I never thought I would've seen. And, if you've ever driven in those areas, you know how retarded it is. I feel like it's worse than NYC a lot of the times. I've become a professional driver. haha.

I was taking some guy home who was on my fireworks crew. Some junkie felon guy with warrants out who lived in Bayonne (yeah, they trusted him with explosives). He gave me directions to his house while he was in the car, but then he just said take a right then another right and follow the signs. There were no signs, so I got lost in the shady part of Bayonne. Pulled up the GPS on my phone and it still took me through the hood. I've found that Google Maps has a habit of taking you through the worst part of every town/city you've ever been lost in.

yeah I can feel that... GPS's often do put you in random, awkward, bad situations. I try to use them only the first time when going to a new place. After that I go by memory. Once you get a feel for an area, you're pretty much golden. Oftentimes I'll go down roads I don't know to see where they take you, oftentimes they turn out to be another alternate route to use in the future. slowly but surely you build a pretty expansive mental map of a big area.
It may sound nerdy but I enjoy looking at maps and all that, so I spend a good but of time just on google maps looking around.
I've never been lost too bad around the hoods because I know from mental maps where I roughly am/where roads should be, etc. I think I could rattle off every exit on 80 starting at about exit 28 and going up towards NYC, same for 21, 20, 19, and a good stretch of the parkway, and I think I know all of the NJTP, except maybe the last 2 exits. 287 through the Morristown area. I drive a shit ton though.
Bayonne is a cool town though, definitely nice if you're working in NYC.

truthfully, no. that was one type of music I never really got into.
Mostly hip hop/jam bands (odd mix, right?) these days.

I'm a big fan of driving too. My ex used to say "how the hell is it that you know your way around NJ better than I do when you moved here 6 years ago and I've been here my whole life?" One road I avoid at all costs though: 17. Cops and traffic out the ass. I hate that road. Also hate 22 but driving on it is necessary a lot of the time.

hahaha, smart man. I do too. Thankfully I never really have to go up that way into Bergen too often, if I'm in Bergen it's usually the towns closer to the river, like Lyndhurst, Rutherford, Garfield, Lodi, Fair Lawn, etc.
I remember I had to go to Paramus for something and the quickest (I assumed) way to 17 was to take 20 to rt.4 and then get on 17. Big fuckin mistake. 4 crawls from light to light during rush hour and 17 is seriously just a fucking nightmare, I couldn't agree more. That road blows.
21 though I seriously love that road, it's so much fun, coming out of Newark you can do 80 the whole way, and once you come out by 3/Clifton/Passaic it starts getting really curvy and there's those fucking dips in the road that if you're not wearing a seatbelt launch you to the roof, haha.

and I forgot the best part: 0 cops. I occasionally see someone pulled over by the black SUV's they have there, but it must have been the result of the cop driving and witnessing a violation. I have not ever seen a cop sitting on 21, except at the very end when it becomes 1 lane for 20.
I would always burn on 21 before I got on probation.

having been to school in bayonne for two years and having 3 generation of family there, bayonne if the farthest thing from ghetto. :youresilly:
like someone said, bayonne's on a grid so its nearly impossible too get lost.
