Being a vegetarian is so hard...
    #16898655 -

At first, I always tried to be vegetarian but failed for longer than a week when eating out

i was fully 100% vegetarian for 8 months

Nowdays, i try so hard, but there are times when I am eating out and I think to myself "What am I supposed to eat?"

From a health standpoint, eating nothing is a lot less healthy than eating a meat-based meal

For any vegetarians out there: What do you eat when there isn't anything vegetarian?

Are you a vegetarian for health reasons or because animals have rights? Because flowers have feelings to!

I don't understand the vegetarian mentality.

At a restaurant I usually get a salad or a lot of places have veggie burgers now or do things like fancy grilled cheese sandwiches. There's also options where you can just ask for the entree without meat, like some pasta dishes.

Like anything in life it's truly all about your perspective. I've been a vegetarian for a few years now for ethical and health reasons, and have no regrets. I find it to be pretty easy, and have a lot of fun learning about and experimenting with alternative meatless meals. Having chosen this dietary path I've become a lot more aware of the reasons and purpose for what I eat. I now try and look at food as fuel and seek out food that is best for my body, and also respective to the world around me. I won't go to far into detail about my opinions of why I feel a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is better because I believe every individual is entitled to their own personal choices. As for eating out, I honestly don't do it often, unless I know the restaurant's food is of some quality, but when I do it's real easy just to ask to take the meat out of a meal. When I'm not being too particular and end up at a fast food joint I'll get a veggie burger(you'd be surprised at how common they are becoming), or for instance at like Taco Bell I'll substitute the meat for their potatos, and I find that's always good. But you should really evaluate if this lifestyle is truly for you if you have such a hard time committing. There's nothing wrong if you choose to eat meat, so long as you get it from a respectable source, like a local butcher/farmer. I think it's crucial to be aware of where any of your food comes from- meat, vegetables,or otherwise. Anything mass produced tends to lack nutritional and ethical value, so home-made and local really is the way to go. Hope this wasn't too long of a rant and helped give you some insight! :nyan:

Once you get into the habit of doing it it's not hard. The way i did it i started to grow a fear of meat because of the way the prepare it. Right im trying to give up bread and soft drinks im having a hard time though.

Ya, after the first two weeks, it's ridiculously easy

I understand soft drinks, but why bread? Carbohydrates are the best source of energy for the body, and grains, ride, pasta and bread all constitute that? As long as you exercise regularly I think you will be fine

Yeah I definitely feel you on that. Color in your food is good. After eating vegetarian, I definitely feel leaner, healthier, and more physically and mentally able. The main reason I am doing this, is for the animals, the planet and me. I want to go out of my way to do something that i think is better for the world around me
That being said, I know at restaurants it is easy. But what about those drunk fast food before you sleep runs? I guess I'll ask for a veggie burger then

Theres always a subway around. Get a sandwich with alvacado

Mexican is pretty popular (in california at least), As for black beans without lard in them and get a rice and bean burrito or something.

Asian places have some vegetarian stir frys, and vege soups.

Its really not that hard. Stop trying to eat FAST food like McD's or some shit. Part of what makes the vegetarian diet healthy is paying extra attention to what you eat. Ive been trying to follow a pretty strict Ital diet as best I can  Just keep with it
