thinking about buying some powered speakers from bheringer
    #16799069 -

yeah, they are 215D's apparently 550 Watts a piece, for $275, a highly competitive price.
I do know that behringer is highly considered to be crap quality. but Ive used their stuff over the years, it does work (before it blows up on you) for quite some time. I have a DJX-700 mixer that still does well for me

heres a link to the speakers, let me know what yall think

Don't buy behringer. Definitely don't buy their monitors :P.

There's a reason they're that price... Mackie do some fairly decent active speakers for a fairly reasonable price (although you will have to fork out a bit more).. Really though you shouldn't buy audio equipment without hearing it for yourself.

yeah, i kinda got screwed.... i agreed to do sound for a stage at a fest, my good friend of like 15 years was supposed to help out with the gear, but he just flaked out.

so, now i gotta rent or buy some sound, and i gotta do it in 6 days... so, with my limited options, i may get stuck buying some of those dirty B's

I would rent some decent gear then.  I'm not familiar with those exact speakers, but Behringer is like the worst company in audio.  The resale value on those has to be shit.

Definitely rent.. the people you're renting from should do installation too.. Some of my friends do sound hire out, a full 13k stack only costs £200 for a weekend... Professional amp rack et all ..

you see, i really only have a few hundred dollars, even a quote i got from a FAMILY member was more than I could swing, i need it for 3 days straight, and it outdoors.

its really just a money problem

id rather buy shit once, than pay the same amount for renting quality.

oh god, they sell them in WHITE, that kinda settles it for me. If i can get em tomorrow, and get a cash discount, theyll be in the back of my truck.

i used to run parties on much smaller, equally crappy sound. So i know this will work.

Im going to TRY and get a bass cab from somewhere to make this whole thing work bettah.

My guess is they are actually around 55-110 watts a piece and that would be loud.  I think true 1000 watts should be able to make peoples ears bleed.  I honestly pay more attention to price and the picture and real measurements sometimes if I can find them.

If you are planning on getting a sub why not get some monitors with 6" or 8" drivers like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Single-M-Audio-Studiophile-BX8a-Deluxe-130-watt-Bi-amplified-Studio-Monitor-/150890199829?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Speakers_Monitors&hash=item2321c1bb15
These are studio monitors not pa so I don't know if that would work very good, these are awesome tho.

Or get a power amplifier that will do at least 2/4ohms and 4 speakers (cheap floor standing or even bookshelf speakers would be fine on ebay for cheap, or build some, I would be most concerned about the tweeters so maybe find the cheapest ones and replace the tweeters with some solid $15 a peice ones, maybe blow out the old ones first if it can) and get a nice powered sub (like dayton) that will crossover the speakers so they can go louder without distorting.

if you want loud the second option would be the best, and running 4 speakers instead of 2 (4ohms instead of 8) can make the amp work 50% harder and like 45% louder with the same % of distortion and also decreases the risk of blowing them out since they don't need to be as loud.  I think audio-files tend to like higher ohms but for a loud party 4 is just fine.

I think most systems are run at 8ohms but I'm not sure about pa's.

yeah, i have like literally 24 hours to lock this down, and its for an OUTDOOR venue.

I want something that will Bump into the trees, and it cant cost that much, given my limited options.... the choice is kind of made for me.

i even hate to say it, but there are some B-grade stock of the speakers that I Want that are 100 less each (who the fuck knows what that actually means)

if they still play, beat to shit or not, im taking them.

this is for an event, in the middle of a forest, im running the whole thing off of a generator.
