On that same token, pirates will never go away, so the artists and companies need to figure out a way to change with the times and evolve with the pirates or they are just shooting themselves in the foot. Many artists are going off on their own now and making and promoting their own albums, giving it away for free and letting people download it for free. And profiting more than ever because no greedy middle man. Fuck the record companies we don't need you. People still make their money even with pirates existing you just have to figure out how to be smart, and not follow an archaic failing business model.

Sure redbox can let you check out movies for a dollar a night but then with most new titles you have to wait a month + after release before redbox even gets it. Plus redbox only covers movies, not even television.

It's just all around silly. Comcast internet + tv in my area is $100 a month for a step above basic cable and decent internet. This does not include a DVR. I never get to watch my shows because of this so I cancelled my TV and started pirating all of the shows I like.

Lets really be honest here. Everyone isn't stealing their favorite shows because they are free that way and they don't care about not supporting the companies they like that produce these shows... They are doing it because they simply cannot afford to watch what they want on their budget. This sounds like just about everyone in lower-lower middle class.

I'm just waiting for someone to take netflix/hulu to the next level as far as online entertainment goes. I would just for once in my god damn life be able to pick the 20 channels on all of TV that I actually like watching and pay a monthly fee based on those channels alone.

No thanks comcast, I don't need 300 channels I don't like plus the 20 I do for $79.99 a month. This is why I pirate and why anyone on their high horses are cracking me up. Yes good money goes into producing all of these shows but in a struggling economy is it really our biggest focus? Is it? Is it? Do we need to make sure hollywood stars are getting every penny they deserve?

I don't care what anyone says, I think the masses are being robbed blind by the entertainment industry when it comes to tv/movies/music. If I was a rapper I wouldn't always be talking about how fucking rich I am, maybe then my fan base wouldn't feel bad about stealing my music. Food for thought.

Well peerblock doesn't work as according to the article there are many that are monitoring IP's that are not on any black list.

If super paranoid you should only connect to the internet with an anonymous live cd https://tails.boum.org/ through a strong vpn that keeps no logs http://btguard.com/?a=discounts.

For extra security never use your actual IP and driving miles away from your actual home and connecting to someone elses wifi either by cracking it or using an open connection.
