does this sound like a dating scam??

i think so..
This "girl" hits me up on a dating website and starts emailing me.  Something about running a jewelry store in the city..

she says shes headed to Malaysia to pick up some jewelry, and while there had her suitcase stolen by an indian on a motorcycle..  Now shes asking for $1500 to help pay for her hotel bills and that she'll pay me back when shes back in town.. 

I waited about 5 days, then messaged her back saying i dont have cash.  She emails me back almost immediately saying shes still stuck there and how much i can lend her.

What i wanna know is if shes "stranded" in Malaysia, then how is it she is emailing me? and if shes been there for almost a week, how is she managing to pay for a stay?  supposedly shes left most her jewelry in the hotel room, valued at $3500 or something..

Im really not buying the story. Think im just ignore her.  What you guys think?  scam?

im not getting any hits on her email, nor can i find her on facebook.  I might just tell her i got the money and i need her info to send the western union (assuming thats what its gonna be).  Then maybe i can get a hit on the name

Its probably a African guy in Africa just trying to scam you. One time I was talking to this person I thought she was Russian and she was saying how she needed all this money and stuff. Im not convinced the really long emails that were sent were just copy pasta emails that they send to everyone they try to scam.
