△ Graham Hancock questions Richard Dawkins on psychedelics and challenging his world view * 1
    #16670054 -

From Wiki:

Graham Hancock (born 2 August 1950 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is a British writer and journalist. Hancock specialises in unconventional theories [1] involving ancient civilizations, stone monuments or megaliths, altered states of consciousness, ancient myths and astronomical/astrological data from the past. One of the main themes running through many of his books is the possible global connection with a "mother culture" from which he believes all ancient historical civilizations sprang.[2]

From Youtube description:

Dr Richard Dawkins, author of books such as The Selfish Gene (http://amzn.to/NjmDZ8) and The God Delusion (http://amzn.to/NdfGdY), is famous for his materialist views about the nature of reality and his belief that "the supernatural... can never offer us a true explanation of the things we see in the world and the universe around us." On 3 November 2011, Dr Dawkins visited the British city of Bath to promote his new book The Magic of Reality (http://amzn.to/NdfMm5) and gave a reading at the Bath Central Library. In the Q&A session following the reading Graham Hancock, author of books such as Fingerprints of the Gods (http://amzn.to/x7PNY3), Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind (http://amzn.to/thGLVP), and Entangled (http://amzn.to/sKUGuR), pointed out to Dr Dawkins that many traditional hunter-gather cultures believe there are other realities -- spirit worlds and so on and so forth -- and concrete techniques, such as the use of psychoactive plants, to access them. "As a scientist," Hancock asked, "have you ever seriously engaged such techniques to have first-hand experience of what they're talking about, and perhaps even to challenge your own concept of what is real?"

In view of Dr Dawkins' influence and importance as a shaper of public opinion his reply, given before an audience of several hundred, is a matter of public record and public interest and shows him to be more open-minded than many of his critics might allege.

Love Graham Hancock!  One of the most open minded scientists on earth.  The guy is a genius, and doesn't care what main stream science considers to be the truth.  His book Fingerprints of the Gods is an amazing read, really opens your mind on the subject of humans existence on earth.  I encourage anyone to read that book!

i love graham hancock!!! man,"fingerprints of the gods" had me engaged from the very first page! i still have not even got to "supernatural" but it's at the very top of my to read list.

dawkins is too caught up in his intellectual mind. i bet if he ate a strong ego shattering dose he still just write it off as a just chemical induced experience. he practically admits that towards the very end of that video! that's not to mention he'd have to own up to the fact that he's been spreading so much ignorance over the years. i still don't see dawkins as being very open minded at all!

Excellent stuff. A nice level-headed response from Dawkins. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he's already had experiences with LSD and mescaline.

p.s. The Whale? Jessica Swift? Rivers and Roads?

the mainstream historical record is so greatly flawed! they basically got themselves in such a position where they cannot admit the truth without losing all credibility. the Antarctica maps alone tear the record apart! we supposedly just discovered that continent in like 1820. yet there are several ancient maps, which were admittedly copied from even older maps, all featuring that landmass. so it was obviously known to man before it was even covered in ice! and that would have to of been before any of the "recorded" civilizations even existed.

and that's just in the first chapter of fingerprints..........................read it!

I'm not entirely convinced that the overlaying of ancient maps onto geophysical maps of the Antarctic landmass aren't just wishful thinking. If you actually compare them yourself in any detail there are some pretty huge dissimilarities.
