Hi there.

How many pods aprox. would one poppy plant have? How many does one Giganteum plant produce?

Usually 1, sometimes more (depending on how much space, light etc. the plants get). But in my experience never less than 1 and occasionally 2 or 3.

How much alkaloids are there in the rest of the plant in comparison to just the pods?

My plants have between 1 and 20 pods, normally around 10.
It depends on soil richness, feed, water ext.
A dry skanky weak plant will still produce 1 to 5.

I think it depends at least as much, if not more on the strain.

Are you growing Hens and Chicks? They tend to produce more pods.

So if theres only one pod on a plant..If you grew indoors it would be better to have a bigger pot and have several plants?

The alkaloids synthesized are translocated to different areas in the plant, depending on the molecule that is synthesized; for example, sanguinarine is localized to the roots, while codeine can be found in either the roots or the shoots of P. somniferum (Facchini and De Luca, 1995). The localization of alkaloid compounds in the opium poppy is not well understood....

Traditional lore says that stems are 1/3 as potent as pods per weight. Personally I think its slightly less. It has a very different feel to it, the alkaloidal mix is not as favorable as in the pods. I don?t like it. :nonono:

Just wondering what would happen If I made sprouts out of about 60 grams of seeds. As in I just sat the seeds on a moist surface for a few weeks, then ate them.

That is an interesting experiment, let us know if you go through with it. Perhaps you can sprout them like alfalfa seeds, would be nice for sallads.
