PICS from the "garden"

I'm not sure I'd call it a garden because all the plants are in pots on the deck, but here's some pictures.



My two brand new Ariocarpus fissuratus. Got them both on Ebay for $10 total(15 with shipping). They're looking a little rough but I'll nurse them back to health. :smile:


A Nicotiana rustica plant. Some flowers and some seed pods.


Nicotiana rustica and some Nicotiana tabaccum.


More N. tabaccum.


Leonurus sibricus seedlings. My big plant(3.5 feet tall) died. It got some wicked root rot and it killed the whole thing. Good thing about that is... all the seeds fell into the dirt and now I've got a forest of them growing. Tis the cycle of life.

I've never heard of Ariocarpus fissuratus or Leonurus sibricus before... Care to tell me a little about them?

Sure.

Ariocarpus fissuratus
Is a cactus whose common name is "Living rock." They grow VERY slowly, just like peyote. It can take up to 150 years to become full grow specimen with a diameter of 6 to 8 inches. They really HATE water. I plan on watering these once every 2-3 weeks and they will be in 90-100 degree weather all summer. I believe that they contain mescaline and some other alkaloids, but I wouldn't eat them-- they just look too cool :smile:

Leonurus sibricus
Is a plant used by shamans in Mexico(I believe). It is said to have effects similar to marijuana, although I've never experinced them before(I've tried though). Pretty easy to grow, has nice purple flowers.
