This is about my plants and their 1000 year old history. My friend is an archeologist. He wrote me a letter with some nicotiana seeds in it. This is a part of the letter he wrote me telling me the story of the seeds and duty I now have. Although a white man, he was adopted into the cherokee nation and is involved inthe native american political scene. A few years ago, a village site dating about 1000A.D. was discovered and excavated in the great lakes region. In the course of the excavations, a sealed clay pot was discovered that had been very carefuly placed in a clay strata. Upon opening the pot, it was found to contain thousands of Nicotiana rustica seeds, the sacred tobacco of the Native Americans. The archeologists kept some seeds for study and gave the rest to the local elders. The elders have been gifting them to people they belive that would love and honor the seeds. Because of their stable, oxygen free storage conditions, the seeds are just as viable today as they were a thousand years ago. My friend gifted me some of his stock, which I grew with love and respect outside the tent I lived in last summer. These leaves and seeds are grown from those plants, ten centuries old and grown with only organic methods. please enjoy the gift. I only ask that when you smoke it, give thanks for the opportunity to have a direct experience with your ancestors. Then step back into the stone age. That was part of his letter to me. I grew it last year and will always grow it. A piece of history will be kept alive. I will also gift it as I see fit to those who will use it in a respectful way.
