i watched that video and some friends that i have that dj dubstep used some of those exact same fills and beats, iiiiiiiiiiinteresting!  i watched my buddy the other day prep for his show, all he did was organize prerecorded samples he downloaded or had on his mixing software (not his own), aligned them for easy access to click, and he was done. AWESOME! his girlfriend is the one who put on a show and she learned just by watching him. id like to see someone just watch someone talented play an instrument and be able to do the same thing in a few days.

they know i dislike it but i go to a few shows to support the people i love

okay, that's what you call a hack dj.  Yes, there are lots of them.

Bassnectar, on the other hand, is like Jimi Hendrix where your friend is like a 10 year old who can play Smoke on the Water.  It sucks that so many people with DJ software just go out there and think they are for realz, but they aren't true creators and producers, people who dedicate their lives to making this music.  Those beats and fills might be used a bunch but they had to come from somewhere, they didn't appear out of thin air.

yeah the whole producing thing is bullshit! yeah you make a boat load of money but all your talent goes to some ass clown that is an entertainer and not a musician and gets all the credit for the music. I would start naming names but just turn on your local pop radio station.

well people just wanna dance and electronic shows can really create a tribal/trance experience that is hard to replicate.  Personally, I like to see acts that can do it all like Radiohead.  I'm hoping that music starts to integrate more and more.

I mean I know what you mean, I prefer 100% control over the sound live to a DJ set any day.  That's why I really dig someone like James Blake, who comes from the underground dub scene in England, but knows how to put on a damn good live performance.

thats what i was trying to get at with the dead, shoulda just used any band but i was ripped and didnt put too much thought into my argument because it thought it spoke for itself. i aint hatin on nobody, just the music.


:ilold:  No.  There are some djs/producers that really rock.  There's an east coast psy dj called Kri that just melts my face.  Apparently the promoters are trying to get him here this fall.  :trippinbawelz:  I was just stating that most dubstep djs (including bassnectar if you would slot him in dubstep) are terrible DJs.  Anyone who thinks bassnectar is a good dj makes me lol.  Seriously, all he does is slam the cross fader over a bunch of times with no real plan or finesse.  It's not like he's doing a bunch of technical stuff either.  I mean, he's better than skrillex no doubt; but, that doesn't make him good either  I personally think that techno djs are the most proficient.  The energy they can create is pretty ridiculous.

bassnectar IS better than STS9

STS9 is alright but bassnectar is immensely better...he has better sounding music and his shows are about 100 times crazier

Bassnectar fucking blows dude.  He is one of the least tallented people in the scene, and is not worth .38 cents to watch him play so premixed shit with the push of an "Eject" button, and swing his dreads all over like some kind of jackass. 

He just made a post on facebook yesterday that made me sick to my stomach, about how people that say things like "America fuck yeh!" are racists and bigots and ignorant, because we are spoiled rotten and have no respect for other people less privilaged blah blah blah.  Total bullshit.  I'm proud to be an American, and proud to have deleted all my Bassnectar shit off of my computer (I pirated it all anyways so no real loss)

String Cheese Incident is pretty Damn talented. They are also guaranteed to put on a crazy show. I've never seen a crowd more involved with an act.

Bassnectar is so custy all he owns are bunk doses and some heavy metal CDs. He admittedly doesn't understand the deadhead or hippy movement, and has said he doesn't even listen to dubstep mainly black metal lmao.
