Bassnectar and Eliot Lipp last night

Wow. That was absolutely the best show that I have ever seen either one of those guys do! It was a 6 hour dance party that Birmingham was graced with. What an incredible time that was! They had this video specialist(I guess that's what you would call him) named, Videolicious. Their combined energies almost blew the walls of the small club that I saw them in.
I already knew these guys were awesome(aside from videolicious((never heard of him until last night))), but I recommend anyone in a city where they are coming and who likes to put on their dancing shoes to GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!!

I saw Bassnectar once...wasn't really too impressed. Just sounds like some kinda lacking, dark DnB. That was a year ago, though. He could have improved
Plus I'm kinda snobby about music.

The times that I saw him prior to this, I was waiting for Sector 9 to start, so I didn't pay that much attention, but own his own? Shit. I was impressed and I see alot of music.

i've seen alot of people getting into bassnectar lately. i think its because they've been touring with jam bands.
now when someone says they like bassnectar, i know they're probably someone who has no knowledge of electronic music, and likes them just because they're affiliated on tour with bands they like.

That's not true, but whatever. I have listened to electronic music since I was a young one. What would make you think a thing like that? Stereotyping, or is it just not your style? He's been doing this shit for years and just now getting some real notoriety. So what if he has played with "jam" bands? What's that even mean: jam band? A band that jams? I think Suicidal Tendencies has had some serious "jam" sessions. Explain.
EDIT- The last band that he toured with was STS9. Before that, he toured with Prefuse 73 and Eliot Lipp.??

sorry, i actually added a modifying word just in case

i know they're probably
but honestly there are like 5000 people producing that style of breaks and a million people spinning it. personally i think its one of the least good forms of breakbeat electronic music we have at the moment, and the one time i saw him live i thought he was bad at track selection and mixing, not in the technical sense, but in the sense of the whole vibe of his music was "hey look at me i'm a DJ, i throw random shit in and change it up quick". it was not a real groove, and not something you could seriously party to i felt.

A lot of people bag on Bassnectar but I think he doesn't sound bad at all. Haven't seen him live yet.
Although I would prefer if the jam scene started inviting more psytrance and goa DJ's with them. It really...irks me in a deep way that the US has practically no psytrance scene, when it is so big in other countries.
Why me!?!?!?

I'll post pics later. I am just too fucking tired to deal with it all, right now. Capitalistic_Nomad(ZippoZ) just left and I am about to go chill with Elijah while they're still in town. He played the S9 remix song off the 1320 Mixtape and that new song that I love so much. The one(I think I posted it earlier in the thread) where the little girl's going, "Look at this!". The whole place was packed out and hot as hell, but nobody left until they all finished. Like 6 hours of straight booty shaking! There were people givingg doses away left and right. These two girls kept asking danksis if she wanted some and after like 3 attempts, danksis just said, "You have anything to put it in for later?" One of the girls just gives her 3 hits in her hand. She put them in her wallet for later. 'Jesus Christ' blotter making it back on the scene!! I haven't seen that since the mid 90's. POTENT!! Had me up all night!! Fucking maniacs were out on the road in the storm, last night!! There were wrecks everywhere! Glad I made it to the house.

Bassnectar is tight in my opinion.
I am not defending him at all, or saying that he does any more than anyone else...but he holds his own. I know he uses ableton live and midi to do alot of live loop triggering. This is nothing new atall, but IMO feeds even more into the jam bandiness that people associate him with rather than club DJ's.
In the end, its music. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.
I just find it kinda rude to say anything more than "I don't like it."
Calling fans of a particular artist bandwagoners because what, they listen to music? Seems pretty harsh man, that is what happens when someone becomes popular, more people listen to them. This says nothing bad about the artist or fans in my opinion. If you don't like him, that is your right, but there will always be similar, older, fresher styles, and there will always be old schhol fans vs bandwagoners.
He might not be on my top list of people I'd like to see, but if he comes to town you bet your ass I'll be there to see him.
But yeah, id LOVE to see a bigger psytrance scene in the US.

Yeah, me too. We should petition some bigger psytrance djs to get them to do a U.S tour. All they can say is no. Who do you think would be the best psytrance dj currently blowing up in Europe, right now? I am out of that whole loop. I have listened to alot, but I can never remember the names.

i'm sorry if you think i'm being overly rude, but quite literally all the kids i know that like bassnectar, had never listened to electronic music and only started listening to bassnectar because they saw him at a festival. they have no knowledge of various styles of electronic music, and and within the breakbeat mashup genre, they have listened to no other artists than the ones they've seen at festivals.
since i think his music is not good you can see why this would irritate me, but regardless of my own bias against the music, from my own direct experience, i can see my judgments appear to accurately correspond to my immediate reality, and i see no reason to alter my beliefs.
