There are so many hoops to jump though that only a handful have ever taken advantage of it.

what this makes me think is the thing to do is if I ever want to kill my self some day, find one of the anti suicide legislators and blow my head off with a shotgun on their front step, with a note describing how I wanted to take the legal route but there were too many hoops :devil:

Assisted suicide happens in hospitals more than people think but for obvious reasons it can not be discussed openly. Doctors can just use the old 'double effect' trick whereby they give a terminally ill patient a higher dose of opiates or something with the "intended" aim of relieving pain but with the "unintended" result of a hastened death.

Too bad if you're stuck with an ultra religious doctor who insists that you die a slow and painful 'natural' death the way God intended even though you're connected to a bunch of machines.

There's only been like 300 people who took advantage of the death with dignity law since it was enacted like 10-15 years ago.  People should buy a nitrogen/helium tank and make an exit bag instead.  Getting a hold of the right barbiturates is a pain in the ass.  The pharmaceutical companies want to get as much money out of you as possible.  You can't make money off a corpse.:strokebeard:  We're still in the dark ages as far as I'm concerned.
