Oh right. Well I have rarely or never created a post and deliberately choose the side least favored, just for the sake of debate. That may be why I had trouble understanding all of this. I usually have an opinion even if I want more feedback and haven't totally made up my mind. I'm used to it with OldWoodSpector but not with you. I love you too brother.

You have obviously never had to put a loved pet down then. I had a cat that I had since I was in the 2nd grade that I had to put down last year. I had become very attached at this point but I couldn't watch him suffer any longer. He was old and ailing for about the last month of his life. We had an appointment with the vet on a saturday to most likely put him down but by late friday night he was suffering so badly that I could no longer stand to see him suffering in this way. He would wander around the house looking for water and crying even though he knew where his water bowl was and when he would try to drink from it he couldn't because his cancer was so far proggressed. He was litterally dying from thirst and I would whish that on no creature or person especially if they were conscious like he was, still even during his las hours purring when I was holding him. It was very hard to do I did have him put down that next morning while petting him as he drew his last breaths. I remember thanking the vet afterwards as tears started to come out. It was obvious that the vet didn't like that part of his job but found it necessary to allievaite suffering.
Many of us are as close or closer to our pets dogs/cats as we are to actual family members and consider them family. So if I had a loved one that obviously had no hope for recovery and was wasting away I would grant thier whish to die with dignity and not fucking die of thirst. But untill something like this happens to you first hand then you will never understand.

BTW I wasn't joking about Kevorkian having Hepatitis C. Sharing a contaminated needle and sex are two ways to get that to my knowledge.
I tend to think that Kevorkian has a death fetish. Pathologist, obsessed with watching people die. Possibly a humanitarian wanting people not to suffer, but IMO just his excuse for his death fetish.
His continued euthanasia and flaunting of it in the face of the DA along with the CBS segment was his downfall. As to second degree murder, that seems a bit stiff to me, but the DA was able to get the conviction. I don't think Dr. K would have stopped regardless of the law. Such was his fascination.
I do think human euthanasia should be a legal option if a person is terminally ill and in pain and wants to end it humanely. The reality is that loved ones will push most people to hang in there, to hang on. Suicide is not option most families would support.
What I find odd is that it is considered inhumane to let an animal suffer, and routine to put your beloved pets "to sleep", yet human suffering goes with the territory.

I love good-natured debate. It puts other views into clear perspective that I might never have seen thinking about the topic by myself, and once in a while, it changes my mind about something (not often, but sometimes).

"...and once in a while, it changes my mind about something..."
Does this mean you are a gasp rigid thinker, or just hard to please?

Neither.
My thinking is perfectly plastic, but my demand for a consistent, well though out, and evidenced rational behind every new idea is rigid, certainly. This is as it should be; it's called Critical Thinking.
As for being hard to please, well, that's what my ex used to say so you may be on to something here. But in the case of intellectual discourse, I seek only the Truth, whether it turns out to please me or not.

One thing I've never understood about those opposed to Kevorkian is the import placed on life, however empty that life may be.

Typing up that little story made me cry which I seldom ever do. Just all the memories I brought back.

no offense, but ANYONE who really wants to kill thier self....DOES. doesn't try, they do it! because only a fucking idiot could fuck it up! IMO slit wrists=cry for help. swallow pills=cry for help. Bullet to the face=affective..99.99%
jump off a 15-20 story building head first=99.99% affective.
make sense at all?
here is that .01%, and I want you to look long and hard at it.... because this guy is still alive, probably forced to live out the rest of his miserable days with no face in some psychiatrich institution where you cant have shoelaces and pipe cleaners....

When I look at this I am choosing to feel sad. Although I know that it is the experience life has chosen for this suffering soul.
I would choose to help people die. To comfort them as much as possible and to allow them the space to relax, knowing they are valuable and loved no matter what they choose.

maybe not to this day, but it was under the heading "Attempted Suicide" and this person had to have lived for some time as "person with no face".
