Tips for controlling humidity in terrarium
    #1636775 - 06/16/03 08:26 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Is there any good ways for controlling humidity in a terrarium using perlite?

I'm looking for something around 90% and I have a good hygrometer to check this.  The wet perlite gives 99% so I poked a few holes in the cover to let some humidity escape but it stills stay at 99%.

I didn't try to put less water in the perlite.  Is it the only way?

Sorry for not being a smart ass.. Hope you guys can enlight me

cakes or casings? if casings, take out the perlite.

if cakes, thoroughly wet perlite will give you 95%+ and your problem will be reducing it after they pin: timed air exchange by a fan will work. so will altering the temp a few degrees. also try large windows covered with tyvek / filter material, that can be covered when needed.

don't forget exit ports for the CO2 to leak out. good luck!
