Experiment with basmati rice looks to be a success :)
    #16328913 -

I boiled the life out of a boil in the bag basmati rice, added protein from body building, just a couple scoops and some vermiculite... i didn't even sterlise it as the verm was straight from an unopened bag... I used a tiny piece from a colonised cake to inoculate this...Put in a black bag and kept warm.. around room temps.... I'm thinking of mixing this in with recycled reptile substrate, unsterilised.... Bad or good idea?

As you can see there appears to be no contamination and this has increased my mycelial stock of colombian cubensis for future innoculations.... or one largish fruiting chamber....

UNRELATED:

Fingers crossed my peyote to myrtillocactus graft is successful, i used normal runny honey, known for it's anit-bacterial qualiities...i had a makeshift sling with bubblewrap/elastic band initially for 24hrs.. nothing fancy, appears to be holding with little to no sign of it failing.. 5days i think it has been grafted since... Or maybe i'm wrong as this is my first cacti graft.. Does it look ok to the experts?

LOL i couldn't give a toss what it looks like so long as it's healthy and produces buttons faster than if they were left to grow unaided by a graft...:rofl2:

if'n yer serious about that claim, you should prolly try out a proven tek, instead of half-assing it.
also, i don't think verm comes sterile in the bag.

If you sterilized the rice by boiling it, adding anything to it that hasn't also been sterilized (or has ever been exposed to unsterile air) will guarantee contamination.

I don't think the protein powder will be helpful.
And this is ready-to-eat rice in a bag? With salt and stuff?

Verm straight out of an unopened bag is basically sterile, though.

You make it all possible. Doesn't it feel good?

this just a boil in the bag basmati rice (plain white) and i thought...give the fuckers some protein...2 scoops... and a wee drop verm i boiled the basmati rice for ages and squeezed the bag and got most of the liquid out... Oh fuk no, no salt.. fuk that... the whey protein is full of vitmains and all sorts of good stuff... also smells of strawberries lol...heh heh.. crazy i know...but hey who knows it might work?

I was bored waiting on my brown rice flour to arrive to thought i'd try an experiment with what i had in the cupboard, furthermore ..i couldn't be assed PC'ing it for hours...wanted to see if my technique is sterile enough... and if i could do this in my kitchen with just surgical gloves alcohol hand wash and just a careful demeanor...

I know that what i did is not a conventional method of growing and as i say this is purely an experiment..If i get a contam it will get binned simple as..or dispatched into the wild...

Don't look contaminated to me...looks pure white mycelium...  smells like magic mushrooms also:)
