Crappie is fun, easy, delicious to fish.

Bad day for fishing yesterday due to weather. Still had a fun trip up to Potter County, PA. Here was the catch of the day. Nice little pickerel.

I've been fishing heaps lately - my friend got a boat and we've been taking it out every free day :smile:

I caught a 70cm long tom and my mate got a 60cm fathead and we both got a bunch of bream!
No shots though :frown:

I'll hopefully get some soon. Going spearing out at a reef tomorrow - I'll try and get my mate to bring his dslr+housing so I can get some shots of the reef.

7-8 pound largemouth give or take a pound. The picture doesn't do the fishes size justice. It was a female off a spawning bed, she went right back in after the shot. Some people walking by the bike trail were like holy shit huge bass.

Much smaller bass but nicer shot, really wish I got a better angled pic of the big girl.

I went fishing for the second time ever in NJ today. First time I didn't catch shit, didn't even get any bites. Today we were just getting drunk and fishing for small stuff. Caught some cool things that I've never seen because I only fished in the Southeast growing up. You Aussie/Kiwi guys will probably enjoy these fish, not something you see everyday:

Green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus). Caught probably 4 or 5 of these, all around 6-8 inches. Beautiful fish.

Small mouth or rock or spotted bass, I'm not sure. I should have taken a pic after I got it off the hook, because literally a second after I took this pic it jumped off the hook and was back in the water.

Big fucking smallmouth x spotted bass (largemouth?) hybrid.

Night fishing at a secret pond location with big artificials...doesn't get much better than this.

They have the fight and unrelenting bursts of energy and aerials of a smallmouth on crack and the heavy pulling power of a big largemouth. This one tailwalked quite a bit before I subdued him or her.

Nice bass, ive never fished bass but i have a growing desire to...

im up to about 20 rainbow trout so far this year, the largest was ~35 cm, not a monster but decent.

im going to try crabbing and ocean fishing hopefully this year which i have never done before.

i can slay trout left and right, but its time to try some new species i say!

Fishing big soft plastics for bass can be quite addicting. Finesse fishing really produces some big fish.

Potomac River snakehead. Caught on a 5" wacky rigged senko at about 10 pm in 2 feet of water. Put up a hell of a fight.

What are you still catching this time of year in Central PA? I'm in North Jersey and I have no fucking clue what to fish for now that it's cold (grew up in GA). I'm supposed to go ice fishing once the lakes freeze up enough, if I do I'll get some pics, regardless of whether or not we catch something.

Live Target crank bait.

Pickerel fishing is similar to bass fishing and you can catch them easier. Just a pissy little fish that will go after anything you throw at them if they are feeding.

Great tasting fish too. Just got to be careful when you are filleting.

You can catch the same fish in the winter as you do during the warmer months. You just have to have more patients and change up your techniques for the most part.

I am a trout fisherman first and foremost, but I do fish for anything I can. All the fish in my sig have been caught this winter.
