Cool mist humidifier and air exchange

Okay, the tank is ready to go but does there need to be a hole in this baby covered with a coffee filter for air exchange or does the cool mist provide enough?
Here's a pic of the top. Look closely at the black circle at the bottom. I know it's hard to see. Was thinking of making an air filter there covered by a coffee filter.
I read "Cool Mist Humidifier Connected to a Garden Hose!" and just wonder how it's possible to run a cool mist 24/7 w/o oversaturating the terrarium.
Thoughts? Suggestions??

Humidifier enough air supply, no need for anything additional. Be sure to drill a hole in the bottom to allow stale air to escape and water to drain out of.
As for oversaturation, just be sure you're not pumping too much into the terrarium.

Also, if you hook it up to a timer so the humidity is constantly changing (just don't let it get too high or too low) it creates more pins on your cakes.

i never noticed until Rae said it, but that is an ultrasonic, not a cool mist, and you will most likely soak your casing with it, u need a timer or u can just turn it on and off regularly, also you can wire it yourself with 5 min of work to lower the output. also the humidifier will not provide enough air exchange and you will have to fan it or something else, or it would if you had it on 24/7-but u cant in that thing. and you will need an exhaust hole-something covered with a coffee filter works fine. thats about it, good luck, Jake H

when i had a coolmist setup i used perlite + coolmist... i never could get the damn thing to work on its own.... i noticed if i ran the coolmist constantly it dried out the cakes..... so i switched to perlite for humiditification and used the cool mist for air exchange (i had it on a timer) that setup worked nicely....
but then i got bored... so i built a poorman's pod im still using the coolmist for air exchange tho...

Is a humidifer a more expansive alternative to perlite / water and wire mesh floor for your rubbermaid container? I live in a extremely humid area, I already have perlite and wire mesh. But I can pickup a humidifer for 3 bux if needed. to bad i cant find a pressure cooker for 3 bux.

Psilocyber, do you have your humidifier on a timer? I have almost the same setup you do (though not as nice), and am wondering what to set my timer on.

I was wondering where the instructions to build a grow chamber using a Cool Mist Humidifier are located? I know http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/7994 this one, I was wondering if anyone knew of any others.

One question. If I do the poor mans pod with a fish tank, do I run my cool mist dry for air exchange? I want to run the airstones with geolite, but I also have a Coolmist. The goal is to have good humidity without having to fan. OK I lied. One more question. Do you set the cakes on the geolite directly? Does this wick moisture into the cakes? I think I read that but I wanted to make sure I was thinking correctly.

Thanks man. So what is the benefit of the expensive geolite stuff?

actually i think you DO place teh cakes directly on teh geolite the cake sucks up the moisture from the geolite.... i just built a pod and im expirementing with using cool mist and not using cool mist with it... the air diffusers should take care of air exchange just fine.... my problem is, im doing caseings not cakes.. so i needed a way to bring down my humidity a bit.... i had the cool mist on a timer for a while, but recently i stopped using it, just to see what would happen.... so far so good....

Cool. Keep us updated. I was thinking about doing this in an aquarium, but the rubbermaid looks so much more convenient.
